The term “lady” came about during the early phase of the “women’s movement”. It is a misnomer, wordplay, like “gay”.

I read the article you send and it doesn’t seem to say much about the word lady nor your outrageous claim that it has anything to do with being a euphemism of recent origin.

Go grab just about any century old book and you’ll find it being used.

The word had it’s origins about 800 years ago.
