Northwell Health probing whether ventilators caused coronavirus deaths

New York’s largest hospital system is conducting a sweeping analysis of its use of ventilators while treating coronavirus patients during the peak of the pandemic — over concerns that an over-reliance on the machines may have cost lives.

For so many sick COVID-19 patients, getting attached to a mechanical ventilator was a death sentence. More than two-thirds of the patients in Northwell Health facilities hooked to ventilators died in March and early April and the fatality rate was similar at other hospitals.

At the beginning of the pandemic, health officials were worried whether there would be a shortage of ventilators to intubate COVID patients with serious breathing and lung problems. But then discussion in the medical community turned to whether the machines were being overused and possibly contributing to a higher death rate.

“One theory is if you put some patients on a ventilator, you might irritate the lungs more. That’s a theory we’re looking at,” Dr. Thomas McGinn, Northwell’s senior vice president and deputy physician-in-chief, told The Post.

Ah, those front line heroes of fiscal prudence, speeding the liabilities to their write offs.

My sources have said so for several months now. Ventilators are usually the wrong choice for this lung infection.

Option C: they were past saving when put on the ventilator.

They have to be prepared to take lots of time and attention to wean patients off who are on more than a couple of days. That is especially true for the elderly.

And they don’t way too often.

Besides killing patients in nursing homes, New York did a great job of killing patients on respirators. The death rate for patients on respirators is high at just under 40%, but they were able to achieve an over 85% with Covid patients.

Patients on respirators actually got twice the money from the government. Who cares if they lived or died, there were other treatment methods and other less intrusive devices that could have worked and saved countless lifes.

The death rate could likely be cut in half if you remove the unnecessary respirators usage and infecting nursing homes on purpose from the equation.

Hmmm. Dr. Judy Mikovits has been saying this, but Dr. Fauci said she was “proven wrong”. YouTube censors her by removing her videos. Very, interesting now others notice the same.

As a non-medical person, are there manufacture and / or medical school warnings that even proper use of ventilators on a patient that doesn’t actually need one can lead to death?

[[New York’s largest hospital system probing whether ventilators caused coronavirus deaths]]

They should be probing whether denying HCQ and Zinc in the early stages of covid resulted in 10’s of 1000’s of unnecessary deaths or not-

You get much better results just putting the patient on their stomach. It’s called proning. Instant relief.

This isn’t the proper question for this argument. Basically, Covid built up fluid in the lungs and caused internal damage. Respirators were causing more damage to lungs because of fluid build up. The death rate for Covid patients was twice as high as the normal respirator patients.

In olden days they’d bleed you to death, and that with the same smug self-assurance as today’s doctors.

Going back a bit, I remember someone saying that oxygen using those nose buds, in most cases, was probably better than a ventilator which was a FORCEFUL way of introducing oxygen.

It had something to do with force and damaging. I'll go find it.

Wrong....even laying patient on belly was a legitimate treatment option prior to venting.

Thanks for the ping. Another lesson on how China conducts asymmetrical warfare. Publish the need for and use of respirators while contraindicated by disease findings. Just another dimension of their bioweapon usage.

So PresiyTrump promptly stepped up and used the Defense Act to make an automobile manufacturer to retool and produce a million ventilators.

Heh, heh...oops, so sorry. We goofed. I’m sure the press, Fauci and all libs will apologize.
