The former Minneapolis police officer shown on video putting his knee on the neck of George Floyd has been arrested, according to Minnesota Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington.
Derek Chauvin, who was fired on Tuesday along with three other officers involved in the detainment of Floyd, was taken into custody Friday.
Video showed Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck for at least eight minutes on Monday night. The police department initially said Floyd "physically resisted" the officers and that he died after "suffering medical distress."

Probably safer than sleeping at home - there was a mob outside his home, three nights in a row.
Did these 2 work together and if they did hated each other
Never give an angry violent mob what they want, you just encourage angry violent mobs
The DA should drop the case
I’m about to post on that...they don’t believe he’s not in his home...they will believe it now
Was he a male Chavinist?
Drop the case? Absolutely not! That would infuriate the crowd even more!
They did the right thing.
Different facts for each individual officer. What needs to be shown for a crime will be different for the by-standing officers than for the officer with his knee on Floyd. I’d say this is a pretty quick action under normal circumstances. Has there been a medical examiner’s report and autopsy evaluation? Plus quite a number of witnesses need to be interviewed.
What I mean is, that man needed to be arrested.
Why would you say that? You sound stupid. We don't like stupid here.
Aw rats! Ya beat me to it!!!
Hell no. He should have been arrested immediately. You or I would have been.
There’s no indication that they knew each other when they worked security for the nightclub/bar. There was an inside security group that Floyd was part of, and a parking lot security group that Chauvin was part of. It was the bar manager or owner who realized that both had worked there.
I am not going to argue the man ins’t guilty, he is.
The issue is do we pease angry violent mobs?
If so, why?
It just encourages more of this crap in the future
If the DA drops it, what will the mob do? Destroy what is already been destroyed?
That is the problem here, the damage is already done, they couldn’t wait for the investigation, the indictment, the trial, etc. They wanted “justice” now.
There’s no law against stupidity! What’re you talkin about...?
Here is the pyramid of blame/responsibility in Minneapolis!
1. The officers that did the beating/killing. They actually did it.
2. The police department heads, and the Chief. They are responsible for the environment that lead to the officers believing this was acceptable behavior.
3. The Black Mayor, Mayor Melvin Carter.
4. The Black Mayor, Mayor Melvin Carter, who selected the Hispanic Chief of Police, Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo.
5. He, the Minneapolis Police Chief, Medaria Arradondo, After Not Giving Cops Armor, Chief Said the Riots were Too Dangerous For Cops To Stop without body armor!
6. The voters of Minneapolis. They elected the mayor, who hired the Chief of Police
7. The local mediots on tv and in news papers ignored 1-6 until the riots started.
8. This isnt even a state issue, much less a fed/gov issue. It is a Minneapolis issue and voters!.
9. The good news for Karens in Minneapolis, FR and in America, the cops and rioters are wearing masks and apparently trying to staying 6 part during the looting and rioting!

It’s clear from looking at the video that Chauvin was greatly enjoying his power to inflict pain.
A psychiatrist would proffer that Chauvin is a Sadist. When he digs his full weight into Floyd’s neck, you can see Chauvin place his hands into his pants, close to his crotch. He seems to be pleasuring himself, as he looks down the defenseless victim.
Is this why Chauvin refused to remove the knee from the victims neck? He was trying to attain a sadistic orgasm?
If this ever goes to a jury trial, the prosecutor is going to have a field day with this case.
Has anyone heard anything on this?
A male chauvinist pig!
