SACRAMENTO While most state employees face the threat of 10% pay cuts due to a state budget deficit fueled by the coronavirus crisis, a citizens panel on Thursday decided not to cut the salaries of state lawmakers and other statewide elected officials. But the decision came with an entreaty from Tom Dalzell, the chairman of the state Citizens Compensation Commission, who called on Californias 132 elected state officials to each consider taking less pay as the state contends with the economic upheaval stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic and the stay-at-home orders implemented to slow spread of the virus.
I urge the legislators and the constitutional officers
to each seriously consider a voluntary surrender of some portion of their salary in recognition of the budgetary hardships and the hardships of many Californians, especially those who are unemployed, Dalzell said during Thursdays meeting.

Must be nice.
I urge the legislators and the constitutional officers to each seriously consider a voluntary surrender of some portion of their salary
Yup, Ill bet theyll consider that long and hard
THAT does not surprise!
Greedy bastards!
So, California, how is socialism working out for you?
I’m surprised that they don’t give themselves a raise for the fantastic job they’re doing to destroy the economy.
Our betters can never be deprived.
How drastic. /S
A “citizen’s panel”?
Yeah right. Something tells me that most real citizens would prefer that elected officials receive the same pay cuts as the rest of them. That they share in their pain.
My bet is the state employees and the elected officials will take NOT action that will diminish their retirement benefits. /sarc
The same bastards in State government who squeal like pigs under the threat of a mere 10% pay cut are all too willing to destroy small business incomes 100%.
The same rat bastards will call for a tax *increase* to pay for diminished tax revenues due to wholesale destruction of businesses caused by the state’s own actions.
We’re all in this together! LOL
Our betters can never be deprived.

The serfs need to work harder and sacrifice more to provide for their overlords.

Elections have consequences, as they say.
Now back to the collective farm or people’s factory.
On another thread I just read read the perfect description:
PARASITIC OFFICIALDOM
It’s a very good one.
Fitting.
We are not all in it together. Government employees are not in the game.
Why New York Is In Trouble 290,304 Public Employees With $100,000+ Paychecks Cost Taxpayers $38 Billion

BTW Calif has some 340,000 gov’t employees making over $100,000
Wait till they and others retire.
You got my meaning.
Further, most of these 100%ers so far, and future 90%ers, are essentially on paid vacation. Oh, sure, I'm sure workload has increased for SOME state employees, but I'll bet that most are working from home in a relaxed fashion, if at all.
