Yesterday I was helping a restaurant manager arrange his tables to comply with Arizona’s “social distancing” order. I was wearing a mask, as it is our company policy when dealing with customers. I also wear one when I go to the Wall Mart or local grocery store.
Anyway, this older woman walks up and says to us, after bantering about the ridiculous rules, “That’s ok, I understand.. You’re just sheep, following other sheep off the cliff”
I bet we vote for the same people. Enough already. I’m not curtailing anyone’s freedoms by wearing the mask. I don’t tell her what to do, I don’t tell anyone what to do except my employees - and I’m not about to tell them to violate our company policy for 10 seconds of superiority.
I’ve heard the micron measurements over and over. I know a stupid mask doesn’t filter out Covid virus, but I do think it limits the droplets of our breath from traveling too far. It reduces the viral load.
You can agree or disagree. It’s ok. But I think our side is quickly becoming the Karen’s we all hate so much. You do you. Don’t call me a godamned sheep. Karen!
It looks like there has been a national breakdown in the ability to think in this country, typified by the almost ceaseless mentioning of “karens.” It is everywhere, you can’t get away from it. People who previously wrote articles and columns in an attempt to persuade and inform now use that platform merely as a decorative excuse to explore the “karen” meme. It is tiresome. Hopefully, it will blow over soon.

One of my customers is a virologist. We had a long discussion yesterday.
She explained/clarified that we all breathe viruses everyday. A normal immune system can handle it. She compared viruses to the candy machine in the famous I Love Lucy episode. Everything is fine until the machine is sped up and the body can’t handle the incoming.
Masks don’t (and can’t) stop all viruses. They are meant to reduce the outgoing from the asymptomatic infected.
She then gave me this visual. If you and an infected person were locked in a 10 by 10 room, would you get sick? If you were in there for a minute, probably not. If you were in there for an hour, more likely you would. If you were in there for an hour and stood facing each other one foot apart for an hour, it is even more likely. If you spent the hour in opposite corners of the room, both wearing masks, your chance of getting infected would be low.
You get sick when the amount of the virus that has entered your body overwhelms your immune system. This amount varies greatly from person to person.
Immunity develops when you are exposed to small amounts of the virus over time. Isolating the healthy means that more people will get sick when they are eventually exposed to one another.

Dear Ms. McCarthy, you are absolutely wrong. A surgical mask when worn with a personal ion generator provides well over 90% protection for the wearer. This is how I have avoided getting the regular flu and colds for the past years without getting the flu shot. I discovered that the flu shots caused my cancer to relapse. This was a discovery can’t be totally unique to me and all these purported expert oncologists around the country should have noted it in their patients long, long ago.

Otherwise the article is ok. If I got to a crowded area, I wear it as a courtesy to others. Thats all. The way this whole thing has gotten politicized is sad, and stupid. From both sides, yes. Stupid. Dumb.
