Imagine New York City five years from now with streets full of abandoned storefronts, closed eateries, and empty buildings. The cumulative effects of the coronavirus may be more overwhelming than the other challenges New York City has had to face during the past two generations, including the aftermath of 9/ 11. It is likely that the pandemic will simply accelerate the trend in the sharp decline of its population and livelihoods.
New York City was already losing population before the outbreak due to economic factors and quality of life issues. Around 40,000 residents left between 2017 and 2018 alone. The coronavirus has fueled the population outflow. About 420,000 residents have fled New York City in the last few months. Even worse for its economy, the majority of those who left amid the pandemic are wealthy workers. Many of them went to low tax havens in the south, such as Texas, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.
Eventually, it will not only be the 1 percent who leave. The unemployment rate in New York City has risen above 14 percent. Residents without a job or reduced hours will no longer have the income to keep paying sky high rents for tiny living quarters. Meanwhile, workers who have not been laid off or furloughed have been working remotely, a trend that may continue for years to come. Nearly 70 percent of those in finance and technology will consider relocating if working remotely becomes permanent.

Here in southern UT we shun and/or confront pushy LIB/Leftist losers. We take no BS from such pathetic nitwits. Stay away.
They're gluttons for punishment.
The virus is not the problem. It’s the Dems suicidal reaction to it.
:)
New York City, CDC, and vampires.
Oops I meant the deep blue states
Well....bye.
Elections have consequences, libs.
Big, rotten apple.
I meant the deep blue states
“I love it when people who vote for socialists get smacked in the face with socialism.”
And I hate it when they drive the a$$holes who voted them into office to live in my state.
NYC was ONCE the pinnacle of American ingenuity and innovation.
Long gone are those days.
I am one who waxes poetic about the grandeur, of her glory days gone by, of Old New York City....the hustling and bustling streets, factories busy, commerce percolating...Yankee spirit, at it’s finiest.
All of that is but a mere memory, thankfully saved on film.
As I said...elections have consequences.
DON’T MOVE TO OUR NEIGHBORHOODS.
In order to defeat Trump the RATS have decided to wreck the national economy to affect all 300 million plus Americans. There is nothing these people won’t do to drive the 45th POTUS out of office. If it takes ruining an entire nation to do it they’ll do it.
The really sad thing is that, those people leaving NYC and NY state behind, will be going to Florida and Texas and other low-tax/no-income tax states, and they will be bringing their stupid liberal voting habits with them, thereby ruining the new places they move to.
I remember the days after 9/11 and that NYC with fortitude. I see this NYC and post Corona and see a broken people and society with shit government. It is actually very sad to see post 9/11. Nevertheless, they will jump like rats into other states and ruin them as well.
I just cant wait for them tofinish destroying the city and beg for a bailout, only to have Trump laugh at them anfpd tell them to file for banckrupcy!
Downside? All the fools who voted for democrats are now in other states and will make those states worse now
Again?
I thought it had already done that.
Michigan Central Train Depot, Detroit
I took a walk this evening and saw several people walking alone and wearing masks. Yet my county, with more than three million people has had only about 5,000 Wuhan cases and 131 deaths, about half of them in nursing homes. Fear of a bug that kills about as many as the annual flu is sweeping away our freedom.
When there is no one left but illegals to pay the taxes.....
