The White House on Sunday announced that the U.S. would bar entry of non-citizens traveling from Brazil, which has seen a sharp rise in coronavirus cases in previous weeks.
The Trump administration has determined that the Federative Republic of Brazil is experiencing widespread, ongoing person-to-person transmission of the virus, according to a White House statement. Brazil reported over 347,000 COVID-19 cases as of Friday, second behind the U.S. in the number of infections, according to a Johns Hopkins University count.
Brazil also has recorded over 22,000 deaths, which would make it the fifth-most in the world. There have been more than 96,000 U.S. deaths reported.
The new restrictions would apply to any non-citizens who had been in Brazil for up to 14 days before trying to enter the U.S., officials said, adding that the move would not affect commerce between the two nations.

Racist!
You beat me to it.
Practicing ‘social distancing’ in a Sao Paulo slum doesn’t sound like much fun.
If you’ve ever seen the slums in Brazil you wouldn’t need to wonder how such a rapid acceleration of the Wuhan Virus could happen.
Why is ANYONE waltzing into the country? From what I have seen, there is no COVID checks at airports. Maybe I am wrong.
“there is no COVID checks at airports.”

Those are worthless anyway, e.g. a quick temperature check.
I’d have shut down all entrance months back, myself (when I saw the thing explode in China) - other than for US citizens returning to stay. Anyone coming in would also be quarantined for at least two weeks before being allowed to move on. That’s if I had my druthers.
The whole temperature screening is a total waste of time..you can have no fever today and have a fever tomorrow, some people get this virus and have no fever, so than what

Maybe he should bar them from entering the country, not just the White House. /s
Good call, Mr. President! Anywhere that’s a hot spot for widespread infection shouldn’t be dumping their infected on us. We have plenty of our own.
Brazil is looking like it wants to be the first one to achieve herd immunity.

It also looks like Brazil may soon pass us in fatalities per week. Additionally, while much of the country is warm, the southern part of it going well into their fall season.
Them Brazilians just can’t do the social distance thing and still maintain them wax jobs...
They’re not even able to slow the spread in Brazil.
