Two NASA astronauts climbed inside their SpaceX spaceship today (May 23) for one last rehearsal ahead of a historic launch into orbit next week.
Astronauts Bob Behknen and Doug Hurley (along with NASA and SpaceX mission teams) performed the "dry run" test for their upcoming test flight on a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule. The mission, NASA's first crewed launch from U.S. soil since 2011, will launch from Pad 39A of Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Wednesday (May 27) at 4:33 p.m. EDT (2033 GMT).
"Exciting couple of days here at NASA Kennedy!" Behnken wrote on Twitter Friday ahead of today's launch rehearsal. "Crew arrival in Florida was awesome, seeing our vehicle roll to 39A was epic, and watching our SpaceX Falcon 9 1st-stage fire one more time before our mission still has a smile on my face!"

Noticed the armored SWAT vehicle in the convoy.
The inside of the capsule looks 21st century, too.
That’s actually the tower escape vehicle.
If the astronauts have to leave the tower just before launch, they literally take a zip line down, jump in the waiting SWAT armored car, and drive away.
That’s a lot of people helping them get strapped in, nothing like Han & Chewie running on board the Millennium Falcon and just taking off. Nasa needs to step it up a notch!
What if they bring Corona to space? It could infect the entire solar system.
Yes, very clean cockpit. As a long time aerospace engineer that has developed updated cockpits for flying vehicles that fly much lower, I am interested in the use of touch screens for primary controls. I’ve seen issues where vibration and turbulence makes the touch screen harder to use than bezel buttons or cursors. I’m sure they have a backup. Would love to see how they handled it. God speed Demo 2 and crew!
This is the final test for SpaceX to be certified for carrying people into space.
My guess is the astronauts don’t have much to do, so anything that needs touching covers a large area.

It’s about damn time the US got back to launching our own astronauts into orbit.
The suit looks like it could be used for space travel, for work where the coronavirus was rampant, for motorcycle travel in bad weather, or for work in a sewer system. In any event, for astronauts, it needs an American flag, NASA insignia, and ID markings of some sort.
I agree. The suits look too sterile to me and NEED FLAGS. After all, taxpayers support NASA and Space-X.
Not to worry. In it's finished form, the suit sports an American Flag.
