Kudos young lady for still having the presence of mind to hit the barrier button even after taking one to the vest. Still not clear if Navy or private security like a lot of facilities have gone to.

Has to be quite a shock to get smacked in a vest like that.
Good job Mam.

I’d agree. Sledge hammer like? Anyone? Bueller? Of course a lot would depend on caliber and angles of impact. Unpleasant in any case. Glad she had it on.

Why an active duty commissioned officer in the United States military is not required to wear his sidearm when on duty in uniform is beyond reason. These terrorists know that American military walk around their bases unarmed and vulnerable.

Are they still looking for the second person of interest, as reported in earlier stories on this?

“All leads are being followed up on.” Or something. The fbi and straight answer don’t necessarily go hand in hand these days. One(?) bad agent spoils the soup for a lot of decent agents. Sad to say. Would I freely talk to them? Nope. But then again they probably would have the facts before they asked the question. One reason I used to get to work so early back in the day. So I could have the answers for the boss when asked. CYA! :-)

The idiot’s name was spoken over Houston radio. All I remember is ‘A-dahm’.

He reportedly drove to the base's north gate, shot a female security officer wearing body armor in the chest and then began shooting before he was fatally shot by naval security forces. Uh, sounds like he had already begun to shoot.

Are military base gate guards armed with loaded weapons? (I HOPE SO!)
I’d guess that when I was in the USN (early-mid ‘70s) guards carried loaded weapons. Nowadays, I’m just not sure. I know the perp was taken out by armed security, but did they have to run by the armory to pick up their one bullet?

Are military base gate guards armed with loaded weapons?.....If they were civilian contractors, I’d say Yes.

Another lone-wolf terrorist who turned out to be Muslim? That is unexpected. I wonder what the odds are that the next one will be Muslim too.

Why not require ALL military personnel to carry their TO weapon? At least the sidearm? When I was an enlisted Marine, I carried a loaded .45 on duty. The Officer of the Day carried a sword! Later, as a commissioned officer, I wore a snub- nosed .38. We were allowed to upgrade at our own expense. 🇺🇸

Kudos young lady for still having the presence of mind to hit the barrier button even after taking one to the vest. Too bad she didn't have the presence of mind to blow his gdamn head off. Oh wait, she couldn't do that because she wasn't allowed to have a gun?

Wouldn’t you think his name would be the first thing in the leed under that headline? No, instead you have to read through half a dozen other sentences to get to the actual identification of the jihadi scumbag.
