Five Iranian oil tankers are currently making their way to Venezuela, where they intend to bust an economic blockade established by the Trump administration on President Nicolas Maduro

Iranian military leaders said their oil tankers would reach the Caribbean in the coming days. In response, the U.S. Navy has already deployed several ships to the area.
Both Iran and Venezuela have threatened violence if the United States intercedes in the shipment. And while the Trump administration would not telegraph any actions it may be planning, U.S. officials made clear the United States does not intend to let Iran expand its malign influence into Latin America.

War??? The Iranian muzzards have been at war with us for decades (Death to America)
Instead, how about having some major major Iranian government assets (like all of them) mysteriously and spontaneously exploding violently?
(And maybe a couple more "earthquakes" while we're at it)
Enforce the Monroe Doctrine. Apply it to Iran, and China, as well.
The word, “malignant”, was made for China.
don’t be surprised if the Iranian bastards are shipping arms in these tankers.
“I plead ignorance but why are they IMPORTING crude oil from Iran? (I missed any earlier explanations).”
They are importing gasoline. Venezuela has the dirtiest oil to refine on the market. A refinery has to be purpose built to handle it. America used to be their market, but we are rapidly converting refineries to handle what is called sweet crude. It’s likely that with the glut of oil nobody will buy Venezuela’s oil as it costs too much to refine.
According to articles I read, Venezuela traded to buy the gas. I suspect that one of the trades is an Iranian base or port, which would be a threat, or, at least further complicate the US’ situation. That is probably what Trump is reacting to, rather than, as posted above, trying to start a neocon style war.
Mooring lines.
Didn’t Venezuela transfer gold to Iran recently?
Your thinking is obsolete.
America is currently destroying Iran with sanctions. Trump cancelled the Obama deal and then imposed sanctions and more sanctions. Trump effectively reduced Iranian oil sales to near nothing while providing the customers with oil from our friends.
The Iranian effort with Venezuela is the direct effort of extremely effective sanctions on Iran and Venezuela. It is a very effective Trump effort and not a powerless neocon effort
Can’t sink loaded tankers. What to do ? String cables across their path and hope the screws foul?
A dilemma.
Just seize them as prize ships.
Of course we are. The bureaucracy in both the State Department, Intelligence, and the military are riddled with interventionist holdovers from administrations going back to Bush The Elder. That and its standard operating procedure to have a convenient foreign threat to distract from a domestic crisis. Still, I believe the Monroe Doctrine is important in this day and age.
Let the tankers pass. There are better ways to deal with this. Sanctions are killing Iran and what money they get from Venezuela isn’t going to change their situation.
Can you please tell me where you got that graphic?
Thanks.
Maybe SEALS put onboard at night after jamming radio transmissions.
The only gold transfer I am aware of was to Rusia, and it was a long time ago. The article I read on this gas transfer stressed trade, but not what or how the author knew.
VENEZUELA: Positions of the Iranian tankers as of 06:30 local time. ‘Fortune’ is due to enter the Venezuelan EEZ in under 10 hours.

I’ll agree.
What good is gasoline if you are starving?
Oil tankers headed FOR Venezuela. Let that sink in, liberals. The most oil-rich nation on Earth needs to import oil.
Bkmk
Really? You think Pompeo can’t do two things at once?
This is clearly in our interest to do.
