Hospital Restricts Prominent Doctor from treating COVID with hydroxychloroquine

The infectious-disease specialist who briefed President Trump last month on the safety and effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine will no longer be allowed to prescribe the drug to patients at the New York City-area hospital where he has admitting privileges unless it's done in a clinical trial.

Every medication out there has terrible side-effects, if you
bother to read the literature. Of course those side effects
rarely come up. You still have to put them in there just in
case, to cover your ass.

There hasn’t been a big slew of people dying who’ve been on
the medication. This is just another example of harming
people who could be helped, so they can get back at Trump
for some supposed thing he has done, that none of them can
ever articulate on the spot.

I’m sure Trump is going to take a medication that might
cause him great physical harm, with no justification.

Who are these idiots that control our nation on a whim,
just to make a gotcha political point?

Here's the problem: The study results on hydroxycholoquine are mixed. Some show success, other show no real patient and increased risk. How people read the news of a study, and how doctors read the actual study differ. Doctors have to look at both the good and bad results to make a decision.
