Black Americans are in an abusive relationship with the Democratic party
The Guardian ^ | 05-22-2020 | Derecka Purnell

I am very tired of Joe Biden. My vote for him was already hanging by a thread before his disastrous interview with Charlamagne tha God on Friday. Interrupting the Breakfast Club host’s explanation that black people needed assurances that our communities will benefit from his presidency, Biden asserted: “If you’ve got a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or for Trump, then you ain’t black.”

Again, I am very tired of Joe Biden. Not because I am a purist, or have inflexible ideological commitments of what it will take to remove Donald Trump from office. But rather because Biden’s condescension towards black communities is intolerable.

...“They know where my heart is,” Biden has said, of black voters.

But do we?

Senator Kamala Harris was severely scrutinized for her treatment of poor black women as a prosecutor – yet Biden’s criminal justice record makes Harris look like Thurgood Marshall. Biden authored and successfully passed the $30bn 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act. Besides putting 100,000 additional police officers in the streets, the crime bill distributed funding for new prison construction, encouraged prosecutors to charge children as adults, and even added the death penalty for 28 new areas, including drug-related offenses. Pushing for further criminalization, then senator Biden argued that George HW Bush’s crime plan did not go far enough because it did not “include enough police officers to catch the violent thugs, not enough prosecutors to convict them, not enough judges to sentence them, and not enough prison cells to put them away for a long time”. An older black generation fought through Jim Crow only for Biden to help make sure that their children and grandchildren lived through a new Jim Crow.

There is a reason Biden is called the "presumed" candidate.

Who is waiting in the wings, plastic surgery healed and medical devices better concealed?

In other words, the author wants more freebies and mulligans for blacks. I’m waiting for Biden to guarantee black reparations and amnesty for *all* black felons. It’s coming. Hard for Trump to one-up that.

Biden and others will rightfully argue that Trump is worse, and I agree.

The author laid out the case for not supporting Biden and Democrats. Instead of simply saying that President Trump is worse, the author should lay out his case against the president. Bet he can't and won't.

Biden was wrong.

Biden said the best we can do is to re-elect Donald Trump as President.

The best we can do is re-elect Donald Trump as President AND drive the blacks out of the Democrat party.

The democrat party is true hierarchy.

The needs and issues facing blacks in America have been pushed far below other interests of the democrats to include illegal aliens. That is a fact.

On top of that, the condescension of rich old white democrats towards them is breathtaking. Trump never changes his vernacular or speech patterns when he meets with them. More importantly, he has carried through on his pledges to them.

The “off-the cuff” moment that Biden had this morning was ill-advised, but not unexpected. Biden said what white liberals have thought for a long time - “you belong to us” and “we know you will be voting for us”. It was an impolite but truthful way of saying “you don’t think for yourself”.

The rich white liberals tell blacks constantly that Trump is a racist. Many of them appear to buy it based on what I see on twitter and in comments to various news stories. Perhaps what Biden said this morning will cause more of them to seek the truth on their own about the democrat party, democrat policies, and a President who is anything but a racist.

Biden shot himself in the foot this morning. At the rate he is going he may run out of bullets soon.

Is this the time to point out that Donald Trump spent the political capital to enact a bi-partisan prison reform law that many black activists had wanted? Barack Obama didn’t get around to this when he had majorities on Capitol Hill. He was too busy greasing the palms of cronies with Porkulus, taking over the health insurance industry with Obamacare, and running guns to Mexican drug cartels. After the GOP retook Congress, he was too busy spying on journalists and domestic political foes.

I send this letter to papers and commentators in January and February. The first sentence needs to change as noted.

Roe v. Wade and Black History Month (February): Black History Month should remind people Democrats professed an apparent contradiction as they seceded to begin the Civil War.

Roe v. Wade Tarnishes MLK Dream (Ruling was on January 22): As “fire eaters” on both sides drove this country towards the Civil War, Democrats professed an apparent contradiction.

They demanded protection where slavery existed, and the right to take their “peculiar property” into the territories. They demanded trading their property across state lines and that states enforce the Fugitive Slave Law. Yet during final debates and for years prior, these same people joined the near universal condemnation of the international slave trade.

This contradiction vanishes when understanding the South was being overrun with their property. Democratic Senator Alfred Iverson of Georgia said before Congress in 1861, “We know well that we never can enjoy equal possession of the territories without protection of our property….. They increase, according to the last census bill, at the rate of 32% every ten years.” Meaning the South needed new slave states and plantations to absorb the increasing population.

Over one hundred fifty years later the Black Community provides voting plurality to the Democrat Party and adopts their Pro-Choice sacrament of abortion. According to the Centers for Disease Control, black women account for about 36% of abortions, though blacks constitute about 14% of total population. Applying antebellum population growth to the period after the Roe v. Wade decision (1/22/73) would mean 77 million blacks instead of the 46 million currently living.

So what benefits accrue for blacks providing the Democrat Party 90% voting support, compared to a mandate for contributing 60% of their humanity to enrich the Democrat slave master’s political status?

“The worst enemy that the Negro have is this white man that runs around here drooling at the mouth professing to love Negros and calling himself a liberal, and it is following these white liberals that has perpetuated problems that Negros have. If the Negro wasn’t taken, tricked or deceived by the white liberal, then Negros would get together and solve our own problems. I only cite these things to show you that in America, the history of the white liberal has been nothing but a series of trickery designed to make Negros think that the white liberal was going to solve our problems. Our problems will never be solved by the white man.”

Malcolm X

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”

The author simply asks for more from the Democrats.

The Democrats, he argues, are not giving black people enough stuff.
