If she has cancer, then her surgery isn’t ‘elective’. She needs to be demanding with Docs there. Unless she is, they’ll push her aside. My uncle was a Cardiologist in Mexico for 4 decades - she needs to keep pushing her Doc until he relents.

Yes, Chilean Spanish is different. I learned mine in Costa Rica, refined it in Venezuela and then went there and found out I had to do a bunch of relearning.
