The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested the man who recorded cellphone video of Ahmaud Arbery being shot and killed.

William “Roddie” Bryan, 50, shot the video that showed what appears to be Gregory and Travis McMichael shooting and killing Ahmaud Arbery while he was out jogging in February.

In a news release, the GBI said it charged Bryan with felony murder and criminal contempt to commit false imprisonment.

I’m not.

You used the word "cornered" when no such condition existed. This is what I mean when I said "stop saying things that are incorrect."

If you attempt to arrest someone while brandishing firearms, you knew that the encounter may end in shooting.

They attempted the arrest without having witnessed an actionable crime.
The intended arrestee died.
Felony murder.
...no matter how I look at this for a way to exonerate McMichaels & Co.

Camera guy was acting as part of the posse, so reaps the posse’s reward.

Excellent post VC. I really appreciate your take and patriotism. Wish there were more of you around. It’s sad to be on pretty much the only conservative site out there and then contend with the likes of doodledawg, meathead, trump deplorable, etc., as defenders of crooked. We are entitled to defend our person and personal property and those that come out of the woodwork to attack the law abiding citizens really are showing their true, wicked colors.

“Suspect” isn’t actionable re: citizen’s arrest.

They didn’t witness him actually commit an actionable crime. Trespassing isn’t actionable; the owner may have (and later did) permitted.

“You recall the police said if there was a problem, they were to call Gregory McMichaels, the retired officer, correct?”

Hasn’t heard that one. Tell us more.

From _The Way Of The Gun_:

Cop: “you the brains of this operation?”
Thug: “honestly, this really isn’t a brains kind of operation.”

Hope you don’t get arrested because the DA believes you were a murderer because you didn’t stop a fight.

I knew this day would come, TexasGator, but even knowing that, it still shocks me.

We agree about something.

No felony committed.
Owner retroactively gave “authority”.

This is a lie. He could have gone back the way he came. He could have ran to the houses or the bushes. He could have simply slowed down and walked past them. He could have simply stopped and sat down.

He was not cornered, and anyone claiming so is propagating a deliberate lie. Stop repeating a lie.

_________________________________________________________
What’s your authority for this claim? As an attorney, I can guarantee you that arrests are made (legally) every single day based on suspicion. It’s called probable cause, a very low standard. Police and citizens have the same standard as to probable cause. The only difference between a cop and a citizen is that cops are given authority to arrest in a wider range of cases. For example, unlike a citizen, a cop is authorized to arrest for a domestic violence assault, even though it’s a misdemeanor that occurred outside of his presence. In this case, the McMichaels had a prior encounter with Arbery who was prowling in and out of the house. He ran away when spotted. The owner called the cops. Less than 2 weeks later, the same guy was seen SPRINTING from the same house when spotted. Is it possible that Arbery was sneaking in and out of this house just for fun? Yes. Is it possible that he got busted twice before he could steal anything? Yes. Bottom line: If a cop could have detained Arbery, a citizen could have also. And are you telling me that if a cop had witnessed Arbery TWICE bolting from a home he clearly didn’t belong in, in a community that had a rash of property crimes, that the cop couldn’t have pursued him and stopped him? You and others keep saying “trespass.” The defendants will say “burglary” or “attempted burglary.” Is there probable cause that Arbery was ATTEMPTING to commit a burglary? YES!!!!!!!! I can direct you to hundreds of court cases that have held that FLIGHT of a suspect is about 95% of what’s needed for probable cause. The issue in this case isn’t whether the defendants had authority or legal justification to stop Arbery, it’s whether the FORCE they used was “reasonable under the totality of the circumstances.” People who are obsessing on probable cause are barking down the wrong rabbit hole.

...but a serious attempt to uphold the law is hard to do without screwing up.

Which is why it's sensible to leave things like that to the police.

You are an idiot. Not funny, not informed, not anything but an idiot. This is CYA prosecutors trying to placate the radical minorities that demand justice for criminals. It’s all BS. Zambia really ? I smell ozone. Lightning may strike soon.

I second the motion. IBTZ

He can talk about the events that lead up to the encounter with Mr. Arbury. The DA may like what he has to say, cut William a deal and send him home.

If a man intended to kill someone with a shotgun, he would have shot him dead the first shot.

One shot or three. The killing was a deliberate act on his part.

Now you may not understand this, but most people can.

As I've said to you before on various other threads, I just don't have your oddball view of things.

Yes it is, which is why I don't see how you think you can get away with deliberately misrepresenting the truth.

Arbery was not cornered. He was just an aggressive fool that thought he could tangle with a man with a shotgun.

Arbery didn't suffer from too much fear. He suffered from too little.
