The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested the man who recorded cellphone video of Ahmaud Arbery being shot and killed.

William “Roddie” Bryan, 50, shot the video that showed what appears to be Gregory and Travis McMichael shooting and killing Ahmaud Arbery while he was out jogging in February.

In a news release, the GBI said it charged Bryan with felony murder and criminal contempt to commit false imprisonment.

Completely irrelevant to the case.

When the video that set all this into motion proves absolutely nothing (regarding culpability) the backgrounds of all three participants (well, four now that the cameraman has been arrested) is absolutely relevant.

Roddy holds the best hand of cards.

No one involved in this incident is very smart.

“If I was handling this case, I would be out on TV every night hammering home the fact that Arbery was not a jogger.”

Why do people keep bringing up meaningless facts?

It doesn’t matter if he was jogger or not. Totally irrelevant.

Au contraire, the fact that Mr. Arbery was a gang member, felon, and convicted thief is very relevant. Public opinion is being swayed in this case because Arbery is being portrayed as some wholesome, clean-cut guy who wore a tuxedo six days a week. The American people think he was a jogger minding his own business when he was confronted by the McMichaels. He was a criminal in that neighborhood to commit crime.

This guy had the fellows convicted 0.5 secs after he became aware of the video.
Screw due process, screw evidence, they were rednecks and obviously guilty.

I want to wait to see all the evidence and observe a fair trial before judging and condemning...and I’m an idiot?

You and your bud can kma

"He just kept recording. You didn’t hear him gasp. He didn’t cut off the camera. He didn’t intervene. He didn’t honk his horn."

So what? That doesn't mean anything.

[bort #20] “The “victim” was a gang member, convicted felon, and a thief.”

[SaxxonWoods #53] Completely irrelevant to the case.

There is a very real relevance as the elder McMichael, until recently, was an investigator for the DA's office and very likely the criminal background of Arbery. That directly relates to whether McMichael had a reasonable and probable suspicion that Arbery entered the structure with intent to commit a theft.

2018 Georgia Code
Title 17 - Criminal Procedure
Chapter 4 - Arrest of Persons
Article 4 - Arrest by Private Persons
§ 17-4-60. Grounds for arrest Universal Citation: GA Code § 17-4-60 (2018)

A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion.

2018 Georgia Code
Title 16 - Crimes and Offenses
Chapter 7 - Damage to and Intrusion Upon Property
Article 1 - Burglary
§ 16-7-1. Burglary
Universal Citation: GA Code § 16-7-1 (2018)

(c) A person commits the offense of burglary in the second degree when, without authority and with the intent to commit a felony or theft therein, he or she enters or remains within an occupied, unoccupied, or vacant building, structure, railroad car, watercraft, or aircraft. A person who commits the offense of burglary in the second degree shall be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than five years. Upon the second and all subsequent convictions for burglary in the second degree, the defendant shall be guilty of a felony and shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than eight years.
