More than 600 doctors signed onto a letter sent to President Trump Tuesday pushing him to end the "national shutdown" aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus, calling the widespread state orders keeping businesses closed and kids home from school a "mass casualty incident" with "exponentially growing health consequences."
The letter outlines a variety of consequences that the doctors have observed resulting from the coronavirus shutdowns, including patients missing routine checkups that could detect things like heart problems or cancer, increases in substance and alcohol abuse, and increases in financial instability that could lead to "[p]overty and financial uncertainty," which "is closely linked to poor health."
"We are alarmed at what appears to be the lack of consideration for the future health of our patients," the doctors say in their letter. "The downstream health effects ... are being massively under-estimated and under-reported. This is an order of magnitude error."

The Dem Left did this very same thing with the old growth forests: They burned them down trying to avoid burning them down. War on poverty? More poverty. War on drugs? More drugs. Take control of education? More student failure...
I’ve been retired more than 10 years, and have been on “lockdown”/medically housebound for over 5 years, complete with home health visits each week.
So, this “lockdown” is just another day. I’m already immuno-compromised, for years, so my “exposure to my fellow human beings” has been practiced for some time.
But now with a Democrat governor, with the same amount of grasp as the last Democrat, Kathleen Blanco of hurricane Katrina ohspitsky fame, I can only shake my head.

Example: Talk radio guy Bill Cunningham last year was strongly advised to accept having a heart procedure done due to some narrowing and if he didn’t he was told he had 4 or maybe 5 months to live. He did it. So did Mick Jagger, flying all the way to the civilized healthcare country the USA for his operation.
What if the Covid crisis had caused Cunningham having to skip seeing a doctor for more months, and his procedure was then not ruled essential by a Gov. Whitmer or Cuomo?
Lots of “elective” surgery for severe daily pain requiring hip or knee operations, let alone many other ailments are being set aside and the medical staff laid off! That is a health crisis.
