Tom Brady backing justice for Ahmaud Arbery sends powerful message

Around 1 p.m. on Feb. 23, a warm Sunday afternoon a couple weeks after the Super Bowl, yet another unarmed black man was killed in the United States.

Ahmaud Arbery, an avid jogger, left Brunswick, a primarily black city in southeast Georgia. Running through the predominantly white neighbouring community of Santilla Shores, Arbery was chased down in a truck, confronted and fatally shot by George and Travis McMichael, a father and son who allegedly believed Arbery was responsible for burglaries in their neighborhood.

There’s so many lies in the first two paragraphs of this story that it’s hard to keep track.

I’m looking for the actual autopsy report. If Arbery was jogging w/o socks, there should be calluses on his feet. That should have been noted in the report.

He was not chased. The run from the construction site went to the dead end of the “shores” (surrounded by water all sides). They went around and intercepted the “jogger”. Patently obvious. What is silly is the son with the shotgun— that was really stupid.

The murder of 500 blacks per year at the hands of whites is wrong.

The murder of 900 whites per year at the hands of blacks is wrong.

Focusing on the murders of only one race is racist.

Even when an armed man asks, “Can I talk to you a minute”, that is not legally a threat.
So, rushing the man and grabbing the gun, means this was a legal case of self defense.

All 3 shots were fired during the struggle.

So, unless the white men committed a criminal act before Aubery rushed them, the law is on their side.

They are trying to work this up to a riot by August, in time for the convention... to distract from the drug dealing lying DNC ruling class that insist on running their “gubmint plantation”. A distraction. Actions of the accused to do not make sense—there must be something else,and as has been pointed it out they are being overcharged. It cannot be “murder” in GA which requires proof of pre-planning (aforethought and actions). Lesser charge of manslaughter is appropriate if proveable. The charge they have will be acquitted-— because it was not murder. Perfect opportunity.

Like Ferguson, like Rodney King (who was not murdered and was provably on massive PCP dose resisting violently)— just a “spark” for the stupids.

Yep— though they did not have to be open carry to stop the guy— has to be something else, like the father knowing history, etc. As pointed out, they have been over-charged as murder. It was not pre-medidated as GA law requires, and if proved so, they will be acquitted of the charge. Should have brought manslaughter.

Agreed. It may have wiser to let the current police handle the approach to Arbery, but neither the father or son was forcing Arbery to do anything. Arbery just got pissed that they were there at all and decided to attack McM. Jr.

When black people are the only ones voicing a rallying cry when black lives are lost, it sends the message that black lives are trivial, that these deaths only matter to other black people. When a sports journalist talks about it, they are told to stick to sports. When black athletes draw attention to it, they’re accused of playing the race card.

When a powerful white man like Tom Brady says that something needs to be done, he is much more likely to succeed in drawing attention to a systemic problem. A white athlete of Brady’s stature lending their name to the cause validates the argument in the eyes of many people. That’s why these acts and allies are of chief importance.

I think the McMichaels are probably going to jail. They don’t want a race war in Georgia-—they shouldn’t.
