Connecticut is the last of all 50 states to ease social-distancing orders

Connecticut will on Wednesday allow residents to eat in outdoor restaurants and shop inside stores, becoming the last of all 50 states to ease social-distancing orders to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Still, Connecticut officials, as are those in other states, are taking a measured, step-by-step approach to reopening and getting their economies restarted.

Gyms, nail salons, spas, theaters and tattoo parlors and bars that do not serve food will remain closed until at least June 20, unless earlier modified.

I did read that some states may require masks UNTIL THERE IS A VACCINE

We can't do anything until the Dems find a cure from capitalism and freedom.

Left in 1981 for the OC, back when it was still Free America. Still better than much of California, but kind of turning into CT with better weather. Thanks.

I represent a coalition of churches and synagogues that are trying to open their

Houses of Worship. We are limited to 49 people, including clergy, in the whole building at the time of service.

You can imagine how really pathetic it looks to see 48 people sitting 6 feet apart in a space that holds 1,500 seats with the rest of the building empty.

That’s Connecticut!

"However, some counties / areas of NY and CA are reopening more than the in the big-city areas."

As far as I know the only thing that Cuomo's opened up in Phase One is construction and manufacturing with low risk, and there's no specific date as to when the next phase kicks in. Phase Two is allowing finance, real estate, insurance, and other types of retail businesses to reopen. The third phase would see the return of restaurants and more retail, while the fourth would permit the reopening of arts, entertainment and education. Cuomo's been be able to get a f'in haircut during the lockdown, but nobody else can.

I got an email from Turning Stone Casino, which is not far from me in Verona, New York. I usually meet my friends there once a month. They come in from Syracuse. We eat at the buffet, and then go play slots. Turning Stone is planning on reopening some venues on June 10th. The restaurants obviously won't be open, and you'll have to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and not live over 120 miles away to get in. They'll be checking driver's licenses. So why even bother to go if you can't eat, can't sit next to each other at the machines and chat normally, and enjoy yourself? I usually only take between $80 to $100 dollars with me when I go, so I'm not a big gambler. I called my friends last night, and told them about the restrictions for the re-opening, and told them I won't be going until this is all over. I'm not wearing a mask to sit six-feet apart from them, and waste my money. I can waste it on better things, or put it away for a rainy day.

Thank you for the article. it was informative.

Quoting:
Los Angeles County, which is home to roughly 10 million of California’s 40 million residents but has so far accounted for more than half the state’s COVID-19 deaths at over 1,800, recently said stay-at-home orders would stay in place there through at least July.
End quote:

I live in LA. With 10 million of the state’s 40 million residents.

"Conn is a state I have no interest in visiting again. "

I live in central New York State, and have never been to Connecticut, and with the comments here, I'll not be going ever. About the only thing I had wanted to visit was Mystic Seaport, but I can visit it in my next life...maybe.

However, some counties / areas of NY and CA are reopening more than the in the big-city areas. And several wonderful sheriffs in CA's less populated areas are defying Gov. Newsom's stupid lockdown orders, and allowing businesses to reopen.

You're right. Last week I had to drive from my rural county in California into Nevada for a medical appointment. No problem traveling at all. Driving back into California the agricultural station inspection station guy just smiled and waved me on through.

Well, I’m in NJ and we still can’t eat anywhere except takeout, so I have no idea where thismauthor comes up with CT being the last.

I hear ya! Wasn’t nearly as awful a state as it’s become when I first moved here. Just terrible now.

You may have better weather than we do, but your taxes and government aren’t any great shakes either.

You are saying that the disease is airborne and it flies all the say from China to California, in the wind and SUN, and flies into people’s bodies? You are crazy. It is dispensed from one to another via droplets from one sick person to another. I’ll take my chances, hiking in the sun and wind. Geez.

The virus is killed in two seconds by the UV light from the sun. So feel free.

Right now we'd probably move to either GA or SC.

FL or TX - no state income tax - still teetering red

Eastern, CT is actually quite pretty. Mystic and the areas east into RI along the shore. North up to the Mass line is actually fairly rural. You also have Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos there. These are two of the nicer casino complexes in the country. Imagine Turning Stone, but much bigger and more to do with multiple golf courses and 30+ restaurants to choose from. Mohegan Sun has an arena that seats 8000 people. Foxwoods is the largest casino in the world.

The rest of CT sucks unless you are one of the mega rich people who live in Greenwich where a fixer upper starts at $1.5 million. Estates go for $20+ million. Old Money and Wall Street hedge fund types.
