California Governor Gavin Newsom weighed in on the question of bailing out states whose budgets have been blown up by the coronavirus pandemic.
Newsom told CNNs State of the Union that a state bailout was not charity and that Congress has a moral and ethical obligation to help Americans across the country.
The House passed a $3 trillion coronavirus relief bill last week which contained almost a trillion dollars to bail out states. It also contained goodies for all another stimulus check, help for renters, college debt relief, and cash for illegal immigrants.
Fox News: Not to act now is not only irresponsible in a humanitarian way, it is irresponsible because its only going to cost more, warned House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. More in terms of lives, livelihood, cost to the budget, cost to our democracy.
Republicans mocked the bill as a bloated Democratic wish-list that was dead on arrival in the GOP-led Senate and, for good measure, faced a White House veto threat. Party leaders say they want to assess how $3 trillion approved earlier is working and see if some states partial business reopenings would spark an economic revival that would ease the need for mor

no it really does not
Now he begs for money from the feds because of ethics? Gov Newsom, you need to get some ethics and learn about the obligations to your state's citizens that you ignore!
Newsom just keeps pumping up into the ULTRA-RAT, so focused on that 2024 presidential primary....
> Newsom says federal government has ‘ethical obligation’ to send states funding <
California wants to give relief money to illegal aliens. Heres how they want it to work:
American taxpayer (farmer, dentist, etc.) > Federal government > CA > illegal aliens
Short form:
American taxpayer > illegal aliens
Just no.
The federal government has an obligation to tell Comrade Newsom to “*** himself, his AG and the red-dominated California legislature”.
No no.. he’s right.
In fact, we should take California’s contributions and spread them out to the poor red states as part of a socially conscious distribution.
Moral and ethical: a Democrat learns two new words.
Nah. Siri Newsom, your state is been mismanaged for decades, they made it worse by causing massive economic disruption and have no desire to ease up on those restrictions so you can figure out a way to fix the mess you created yourself.
He sure as hell has a piss-poor track record to run on. Californias stats are terrible.
He sent a billion dollars to China for overpriced and underperforming masks. He bought up twice as many hotel rooms for the homeless than he needed. He is giving illegals tens of millions in “free money”.
The feds are under no ethical or moral obligation to fund his folly.
Isn’t California always bragging how its giving charity to the federal government?
Dear Governor;
Speaking of ethical obligations, does a state that fails to make proper public employee pension contributions deserve to be bailed out by the federal government? Does a state that drives business out of its borders with tax and oppressive regulations ethically deserve to be bailed out of its fallen revenues by the taxpayers of states that have managed their finances?
You have no right to bring up ethics.
Not to act now is not only irresponsible in a humanitarian way, it is irresponsible because its only going to cost more, warned House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. More in terms of lives, livelihood, cost to the budget, cost to our democracy.
Well, then you better move your sweet ass and get California back to work PDQ and ASAP...
Nuisance approved $500 to illegal aliens in CA.
AND THIS ASSHOLE CLAIMS THEY HAVE NO MONEY? Where did he get the money to pay for the illegals?
Yep, just like NewsomIdiot has an “ethical obligation” to balance his own budget and make the necessary cuts where needed but going to the extent of issuing a quid pro quo (if you don’t give me a bailout, I will layoff first responders)is beyond unethical. Far as I am concerned F-off NewsomIdiot. Pull your big boy pants up and reap what you and decades worth of liberal progressive politicians have sown.
Well they want to finance all of South of American and now they want more
Just like with the recalcitrant street bum, to give them what they want will only hurt them further.
There are red states that want this money also. To heck with every red and blue state that wants to this money.
