COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Bond has been denied for a 23-year-old woman who was arrested after investigators said she intentionally set her car on fire while her 14-month-old son sat inside, burning him severely all over this body.
Police say Caylin Watson lit her car on fire with her 14-month-old baby inside, burning him severely all over his body.
The Columbia Police Department has charged Caylin Watson with attempted murder, first-degree arson, third-degree arson, and abuse/infliction of great bodily injury on a child.
Investigators said the car was parked near mile marker 1 on I-126 West just after 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Because of the fire, the child suffered severe burns on his body and is listed in critical condition at the Augusta Burn Center. Watson was also treated for minor injuries at a local hospital before she was taken to jail.
Four witnesses traveling along the highway saw the car on fire and stopped to help by either calling 911 or getting out of their vehicles to help the child.
Columbia Police officers arrived on the scene along with members of the Columbia Fire Department to put out the fire.
Watson was detained by authorities after they found evidence suggesting the fire was intentionally set.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division helped with processing the crime scene.
Not before you gut her and show her the insides first.

Just horrible! Praying for this child now. If he makes it, he needs a good home to go to.
Napalm her and laugh while she burns. That's what she deserves.
I guessed wrong. Based on the name, I expected a Cracker.
Good, now take her out back and feed her to the hogs.
Is it my imagination, or does she have little gold letters spelling ORC in her hair just above her forehead?
Nope. An eye for an eye.
Strap her in a car and set it on fire, wait until she's in the condition her baby was in and then take her to the hospital for the same kind of treatment her baby has to endure.
Burn pain is horrific. She needs to know what she put her child through.
At this point, I’ll be praying that the Lord would just take the child and spare him the horror of what’s ahead of him both as a burn patient and dealing with the aftermath of such a horrible experience at the hands of his own mother.
That is what I saw to. Maybe she belongs to some weird cult? I have no idea what ORC means.
I agree. :(
Orcs are the crude evil mindless ultraviolent ogres born from mud in the J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. So that fits this criminal.
I believe it’s the copyright mark © along with the initials for the county where she was arrested (Richland County).
It doesn’t look like it is in her hair. More likely a watermark on the picture. And at this point, I’ll go with SoL’s conclusion unless someone else comes up with a better idea.
That was a tricky one but I assumed right that she is not of Amish stock.
