Based on a new analysis of state-by-state COVID-19 fatality reports, it is clear that the most underappreciated aspect of the novel coronavirus pandemic is its effect on a specific population of Americans: those living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
The disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 affects the elderly far more severely, on average, than younger individuals.
But it turns out that among those who are elderly, deaths are concentrated even further among those living in long term care facilities. This has implications for both those who live in such facilities and those who dont.

62% in our state, NC - 33% in our county.
Bet it is higher than that.
New York is being dishonest about its numbers. Will Cuomo and the Fake News Media actually think they can get away with claiming that NY did better than other states with their low %?
and they're usually elderly....
its no surprise that ANY disease would affect them the worse....its called biology....
but what is surprising is that we were all told that this virus can be prevented from spreading and killing people..and many just took the hook and swallowed it.
...well I guess that point is moot.
Doctors once had little choice but to be fatalistic about deaths from pneumonia.
Sir William Osler, sometimes called the father of modern medicine, famously called it “friend of the aged” (often rendered as “the old man’s friend”) because it was seen as a swift, relatively painless way to die.
But that was over 100 years ago.
Today, doctors can do a lot more about pneumonia, although it remains a major killer, capable of thwarting the best efforts at prevention and treatment.
I have met many an old person who felt like they were ready to die and stated as such for many years and continued on until 103 or 95 or whatever
Life is a gift : enjoy it ! and try to be a help , not a burden wherever possible
And yet the healthy and young are denied working.
We have gone completely insane as a country.
Check out column P on this spreadsheet. These are the states forcing Long Term Care Facilities to accept covid patients
AZ-all the time
CA-3/29-4/3
LA-before 3/27
MI-AFTER 4/14
NJ-after 3/31
NY-3/25-5/10
PA-3/29-4/14
There has been a lot of talk about NJ, NY, and PA nursing home deaths.
But why did MICHIGAN begin forcing the nursing homes to take covid patients on APRIL 14, 2020?????
It was more than obvious that by April 14 that sending covid patients to nursing homes was manslaughter for the patients in those homes.
And it is not surprising that Michigan is slow walking any reporting on their nursing home deaths.
When it comes to nursing home deaths, state data tells only part of the story
Kristi Tanner, Gina Kaufman and Elisha Anderson, Detroit Free Press 17/5/2020
Officials recently said there had been 687 COVID-19-related deaths reported by skilled nursing facilities, as of May 10, but Gordon cast doubt on the accuracy of that statistic during a state Senate oversight committee hearing last week.
I do not stand behind that number as an accurate and full accounting of COVID-related nursing home deaths, he said during the hearing Wednesday. Im confident that number is an undercount.
It is way higher than that. Wolf,Cuomo and Murphy belong in prison.
The economists and policy wonks have been strangely silent of late about a “looming Social Security crisis” or a “demographic bubble”.
Seems the CCP may have provided a Final Solution.
Democrats murdering granny and gramps.
Thanks, I had not seen that.
There's a reason data is hard to come by.
I can't think of any reason why that decision would be made at that date (4/14) that makes sense. Yikes.
No matter how hard the press tries to cover things up, there are a lot of questions to be asked in MI, NY, NJ, PA and MN
Here in Virginia, it’s 60%
I read through the article quickly.
It does not look like they counted the people who died in hospitals who were transported there from nursing homes or similar facilities.
Bottom Line...
COVID-19 is a dangerous disease for the elderly and the infirm.
If you are under 60 and in good health, COVID-19 has the same risk as seasonal influenza.
Almost 70% here in PA
Facility County Number of Facilities with Cases Number of Cases Among Residents Number of Cases Among Employees Number of Deaths
PENNSYLVANIA 561 13626 2111 3086
total deaths 4505
Here in PA Cousin it and Gov Wolf forced the nursing homes to take the COVID patients back after hospitalization thus insuring that the disease spread to everyone in the the nursing home patients and staff. The new quarantine method by today’s health care professionals is isolate a bunch of helpless people, Stick a sick person in with them and watch them die. Then yell PANDEMIC.
