Red States Can't Let Blue Ones Go Down Without Sinking Themselves.
Republicans may not want to bail out blue states, but they cant afford to let them go under. Nicole Gelinas Published May. 16, 2020 5:35AM ET
A long-simmering uneasiness between densely populated Democratic states and more sprawling Republican states has turned into open contempt, with national Republicans refusing more aid for cash-strapped states, and local and state Democrats seeing anything less than 100 percent funding as a betrayal.
As New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Illinois, in particular, struggle with the economic consequences of locking down their states to contain COVID-19, some national Republicans are pointing to them as parables of Democratic profligacy with President Trump saying that all the states that need help, theyre run by Democrats and Majority Leader Mitch McConnell suggesting at one point that they go bankrupt.

Trump’s vetos can be overridden.
Sure the red states can. Very much so. It is the only way to end the idea that liberalism works.
Best thing for the country, honestly.
At least the commies know they’re bankrupt. Of course they want the non-communists to bail them out. We’re supposed to be their slaves.
At least it will be in record that Congress had to override it. The Democrats cannot hide from that.
Neither can the Republicans.
As Blue states are city states and red states tend to be more producer type states the EBT’rs will suffer far more from this Plandemic they created than “flyover country”.
City folk look down their nose at farmers, but it’s pretty clear who is dependent on who.
“Cash-strapped states” is a euphemism for fiscally mismanaged states. Common sense dictates states should no spend more than they can pay for.
Governors are in charge. Their policies cause their state to sink or swim. Red states will do better because they have better policies. Keep hammering the point that people in Blue states are suffering because they keep voting for Democrats. Nothing will change until they make it change. Trump has nothing to do with this.
Oh....BS.
If a state is so mismanaged that is must “default” - it should be become a territory again and be run by competent Federal authorities.
All contracts to be made null and void - especially public union contracts.
Their federal representation must be stripped - no Senators, Congressmen or voting in presidential elections.
Once they get their financial house in order - they can be voted back onto the union.

This country is in a cold war internally and externally. There are serious rounds be leveled against Trump, and some are very effective.
In many ways President Trump’s choices are reactions dictated by circumstances. Some of the choices are no win ones. Just how brain washed by the main stream media everyone is to their siren song is still an unanswered question.
He is better off tying partial bailout money with infrastructure funding for each state. He also needs to decide how he is going to handle liberal governors who are using the virus to continue chaos in their states. He may not in the short term but eventually being the top person he will share in the blame.
I’m willing to take that chance.
We are missing a chance to bail them out in a useful way. Assuming Trump is re-elected with majorities in House and Senate, the bailout goes like this. A new State Bankruptcy law allows states to declare bankruptcy, but they revert to territorial status. The President appoints their governor and their votes don’t count in Congress.
What could be wrong with that bailout.
Some states have state constitutions that prohibit state bankruptcy. State constotutions would have to be amended. NYS recently tried to do that, but the vote for a constitutional convention was shot down when public employees turned out in droves to vote against it.
Complete BS.
Let the riots begin.
The progs will once again show the world they are a death sentence.
.
I'd have to say no to bailing out the blue states.
