Take ‘em, Tulsa. Oklahoma has enough conservatives to balance the incoming Cali-riffraff.
Texas does not
He must have taken every handout California is willing to give so he needs another state to sponge off of.
Hey, Mr. Musk. Austin is just like California right down to the totalitarian streak and idiot homeless “solutions”. Their current lockdown is until mid-June at the soonest.
I’m not telling you what to do, but Tulsa would be a lot smarter. On the other hand, Apple, Google and eBay have all moved to Austin if you want your cars to be computers-on-wheels.
Make Austin Even Weirder.
Shoulda picked north Dallas area. Oh well.
Tell Me Something Bad About Tulsa

Damn near makes me wanna go back home....
Two factories?? One factory and one corporate office??
Rather than Austin, I would go a little up the road to Round Rock.
Austin, while beautiful is full of the liberal crap Musk is running away from Calif. for.
The good folks of Tulsa are not at all Calif.
Oklahoma has lower tax rates, overall. Texas’ real estate taxes are higher than Oklahoma’s. Austin is full of leftists so he might be jumping out of the fire and into the pot.
I concur with most of the sentiment here regarding Tesla’a pending re-location ... if Austin is the only choice in Texas I prefer they go to OK. Round Rock, Georgetown, any place more than 100 miles from the Capital building would be preferred.
If he is thinking about going to Austin, he should just stay in California.
But Austin? Seriously? Musk needs to watch a couple of shows on Austin City Limits on PBS. Then he will realize what he is dealing with in Austin...
I’m NOT buying this.
It makes much more sense for Musk to relocate his assembly operations into Nevada. There are vast open spaces in Nevada & Musk is already well established with county officials for construction. Storey County is swift about giving out permits when you have your plans well prepared.
The Batteries are made there, and are now being SHIPPED to Fremont, Calif for assembly. The state of California is charging Tesla a huge surcharge for every truckload because they have deemed the batteries ‘dangerous cargo’. How come the battery isn’t considered ‘dangerous cargo’ when finally assembled into the car???
Those current trips are about 250 miles one way—over the Donner Pass on I-80. That pass gets shut down often in winter due to storm conditions.
Taking those truck loads to Oklahoma or Austin would be a nightmare. Have to travel on the northern route thru Nevada,Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas to Oklahoma & further to Texas.About 2000 miles one way.
The southern route would go thru Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma/Texas. About the same distance.
Musk isn’t stupid. He won’t trade a 250 mile one way trucking cost for a 2000 mile one way trucking cost.
Oklahoma has state income taxes.
Texas does not.
NEVADA DOES NOT.
Trying to do business in Austin, Texas would be as bad as trying to do business in California, IMO. The Liberals there would attack his operations daily, IMO.
Please not Tulsa.
