I have a new name for him;
Runin Hyde.
He would have made for a good plot for an old Twilight Zone episode where the subject experiences never ending nightmares.
He could make choices that lead him out of his hell but it doesn’t sound like he will.
Good one! I hope he never lives down his cowardliness and should cover his face in public.
Technically it was not.
Police are not required to provide protection to any particular individuals, as multiple court cases have ruled.
Besides they do far better when shooting people asleep in their homes, having medical seizures, and when they’re handcuffed in the back of a squad car. Even during a hurricane like Katrina.
Now aside from the technical legal definition, he and any other officer like him, can be viewed and judged from other standpoints as cowardly, and as a person, determine he’s not the right kind of person to be an officer, the community could definitely determine he’s not fit to serve anymore.
This coward isn’t alone. I suspect most cops are cowards as we see them hiding behind their cars while innocents are being shot. When I hear how the cops would stop a civil war I can only laugh at the cowards and realize they wouldn’t last an afternoon. They suit up just to take out potheads.
Looks like being a coward pays well, if you are a cop...
For a running account posted in FR which I used to cover that shameful episode checkout http://www.theusmat.com/index.htm
How he’ll be treated by the rest of his co-workers is another story altogether. I’m sure he’ll take his back-pay and quietly slither out the back door collecting his pension on the way. A brave man dies but once...
