The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is still rising, even though people are driving and flying less during the COVID-19 pandemic. CO2 reached an all-time daily high on May 3rd, hitting levels that havent been seen in the more than 60 years since records began.
The annual average is also expected to rise, according to an analysis published today by scientists at the national meteorological service for the UK and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. They found that the overall amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is still climbing steadily, and that the dramatic changes from the pandemic barely slowed it down.
The data shows how much more ambitious efforts need to be in order to stop heating up our planet...
It may feel like the world has come to a virtual stop amid orders to shut down businesses and shelter in place during the pandemic. The effect thats had on how much planet-heating pollution people pump out is already about six times greater than the 2008 Great Recession had on carbon emissions. But the total drop in global greenhouse gas emissions this year as a result of the COVID-19 crisis is projected to be just about 8 percent, according to the International Energy Agency.
An important thing to keep in mind is that carbon dioxide can persist in the atmosphere for hundreds to thousands of years after it escapes our factories and tailpipes...
Carbon dioxide concentrations have peaked each year since record-keeping began at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii in 1958.
Hey, I am still waiting to plant Tomatoes here in Zone 6!
Not that I know of. But people may be drinking more soda.
So this just proves increased carbon dioxide levels aren’t necessarily the fault of man.
No, The record-breaking cold weather was from a southward plunge of the jet stream in place to the east of the Rockies. That allowed a pipeline of cold air to dive southward from Canada into parts of the central and eastern United States. Yeah, but that would have never been able to happen it the car traffic had not been reduced.
That is up to you to prove.
Something reeks of BS here.
It is too short a time to "prove" this, but they cannot say that CV restrictions powered CO2
Now i am going to get some sleep.
Almost like these climate alarmists are a bunch of liars and scammers, isnt it?
For months, it has been eerily quiet here. Cars rarely drive by, and even fewer planes. Much of the world has seemingly shut down for weeks, yet they say CO2 is rising... Then they are wrong about their remedies for the supposed human-caused climate change.
Failing to be convinced by specious arguments or scanty evidence does not indicate any such thing.
"Wanting" something to be true should not influence your reasoning faculties.

"Wanting" something to be true should not influence your reasoning faculties.
I never argued "wanting something to be true" but that of a desire for what/who is supremely Good versus the opposite.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. (John 3:19-21)
