On Monday, McConnell did an interview with Team Trump Online about recent remarks made by Obama on Trump's response to the coronavirus. McConnell said that he believed Obama should have "kept his mouth shut" rather than criticizing Trump. In response, former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele trashed McConnell for condemning Obama.
"I'm sure Mitch is aware that a grown ass black man who happens to be a former president has agency to speak his mind on how his successor is managing this crisis, especially since his successor has yet to keep 'his mouth shut' about him," Steele tweeted.

Sorry Mr. Steele, “a grown ass black man” former president or not does not get a pass, is not immune from criticism, just because he is “a grown ass black man”.
Mr. Steele seems to think Obama is immune from public criticism just because he is “a grown ass black man”.
The first one to mention race is the racist.
These types of people (women, minorities, etc.) want to be treated as equals by the Republican Party, but they ALWAYS go tribal at virtually every opportunity. They should look in the mirror as to why they aren’t trusted equally.

Back during my bad days in Dayton OH, I was slaving away at a telemarketing boiler room.
One of the others there was a young black guy, clean and well-groomed, eloquent speaker with a better-than-average vocabulary, could clearly state rational positions on several issues of the day, and for all appearances leaned GOP.
But when asked about his vote, his voice suddenly changed and he replied (and this is a verbatim phonetic quote), "Obama, cuz I gots ta go wif da brothah..."

I can remember back in the day when former Presidents refrained from commenting on how or what their successors were doing.

Republicans reelected all their Senators and picked up six Senate seats. They retook the House, taking 63 seats in the House, the largest turnover in about 70 years.
What a loser this guy was/is. I think he is now to the left of "conservative" Jennifer Rubin.
How true. There are other incidents of promoting black men in hope of easing imagined guilt - take Colin Powell for instance, he ended up kissing Obama's ass purely based on race. Personally, I don't jump on the bandwagon for any politician unless there is a long and consistent record. Then it's based always based on record, not politics.
