Neighbor says he’s ‘not proud’ of filming Ahmaud Arbery shooting

The Georgia man who filmed the shooting death of unarmed black jogger Ahmaud Arbery says he’s “not proud” he did so — but he hopes it “helps in the end.”

William “Roddie” Bryan, whose cell phone footage of the Feb. 23 incident sparked national outrage, told Good Morning America he has “tons of regrets” over the incident.

“Yeah, I wish I hadn’t been there,” Bryan told the ABC-TV show Tuesday.

WTF to say? I have nothing constructive except maybe justice would have worked out much better without this video.

Video is the only thing proving they didn't murder that guy. If I had not seen it on video, I would never have believed anyone would be so stupid as to rush a guy with a shotgun and try to take it away from him.

I would sooner believe two redneck racists murdered a black man then that this guy just threw himself on the shotgun and begged to be killed.

That video is the only way of proving they didn't murder him in cold blood.

They were the good guys, he was the bad. And two 85 year olds paid for it with their life up in that cemetery.

There's a lot of hate out there. It's a shame, but we've all gotten away from religious teachings here in America.

Hey, doesn’t everyone carry a hammer when out for a jog?

What’s your definition of robbery?

“...where the shotgun was at at the precise microsecond of each discharge.”

I used to bird hunt some including geese and using a 10 gauge to a 20 gauge. The recoil of a shotgun blast can be very violent and I can’t see the shooter using a .410 for defense. There was no apparent recoil but there didn’t seem to be any drawback or flinch of either of the combatants on discharge. And the deceased took one, at least, in the middle and still took a couple of steps forward before collapsing after knocking the shooter away. Both those guys need a red “S” on their chests to do those things.

There’s something wrong with his whole thing that I can see and I ain’t no crime scene investigator. Some obvious missing details or actions that should have happened.

Stealing a gun from a vehicle. That’s a close definition of a robbery. A burglary if you will.

The younger McMichael claims that a weapon was stolen from his truck recently. Did this actually happened? Who knows and if it did was Arbery the one who took it? Again, who knows. But if the McMichaels had reason to suspect that Arbery was in fact casing the joint last October. If they had reason to suspect he stole the gun from their truck. If they had reason to suspect that he was once again up to no good in their neighborhood; then yeah. They have every reason, every right to chase him down.

And on a “jog” 3 miles from your home. Some jog. We’ll never know who dropped him off. Video of him walking, not jogging into the house where he got the hammer.

There is a lot... a lot of background on this rather stupid individual, such as the felony of having a firearm at a school basketball game (two schools neither of which he formerly attended btw—so the implication of ganger interaction comes to mind from either or both of the schools— rivals. He was caught—whole history there, and other). This only provides background— the parents are no bargain for a 25 year old staying with them, and going out on robbery jogs.

Regardless, stealing a hammer (and Diogenes is right—he knew he better not come at them with a weapon, so dropped the hammer)—is not worth this kind of attention. There a known use of construction housing for “drops” (money and dope)— so one wonders about that potential.

The “citizens arrest” encounter is legal in GA. Why the son got out of the truck with a freaking shotgun remains to be understood— they assumed he had a firearm? And part 2 to this— how utterly foolish was the 25 year old to come at a loaded shotgun and try to wrestle it away (not unlike the Ferguson idiot who wrestled away a police officers weapon, such that the officer shot him...dead. Which is—in both of these instances....not murder— but self defense.

Terrible situation that did not need to be handled this way. And the new home construction owner has gotten into the act as well with their own security video.

No, a robbery is stealing from a person by force.

A burglary is stealing from a dwelling.

Taking a gun from a car is stealing.

Don’t use terms that confuse the situation.

And no, they don’t have any reason to chase him down even if they think he stole a gun from their vehicle. This isn’t the wild west. Protect your stuff, lock your car, better yet put it in the garage. People have a right to be on the sidewalk whether you like strangers in your neighborhood or not.

[Too bad he didn’t shoot a film that allowed one to form a firm opinion either in favor of a murder charge or a “justifiable homicide” declaration.]

Re jogging. Decades ago, I was walking down the street with my brother somewhere in the city. A group of black teens started jogging in our general direction. We developed a sudden urge to start jogging as well. It was like one of those movies where one person starts dancing and everyone onscreen joins them.

https://www.news4jax.com/news/georgia/2020/05/11/federal-prosecutors-weigh-hate-crime-charges-in-ahmaud-arbery-death/
[The leaked video shows a black man running at a jogging pace. The truck is stopped in the road ahead of him, with one of the white men standing in the pickup’s bed and the other beside the open driver’s side door.

The running man attempts to pass the pickup on the passenger side, moving just beyond the truck, briefly outside the camera’s view. A gunshot sounds, and the video shows the running man grappling with a man over what appears to be a shotgun or rifle. A second shot can be heard, and the running man can be seen punching the other man. A third shot is fired at point-blank range. The running man staggers a few feet and falls face down.]

Being a retired cop isn’t relevant...doesn’t give him special privileges to shoot anyone nor chase them down.

As a citizen though the state appears to allow citizen arrest, which those laws will be in the forefornt rather than he was a retired cop.

Further even your post info makes it look like he was out to get the guy.

He probably swerved to capture the hammer that Arbery apparently dropped on the road. Watch the video carefully.

There’s a boat and dock behind the house. He knows this. He was busted on video trespassing on it in october. Same time the owners fishing equipment went missing.

"Same time the owners fishing equipment went missing.

Now we find out that there were things missing in the past? Thanks for that info.

Came across this new video of someone trespassing in the home 12 days before Arbery was shot. As far as I'm concerned that sure looks like Arbery. It looks like he's got a mask or something covering the lower part of his face. This was taken at night, and this is probably the incident that McMichael mentioned when he called 911 the day of the shooting.

Hmmm now the other black and white video was him in a boathouse on that river out back. I THINK that was recorded in Octoberish but I cant be sure. Still trying to piece that together.

The owner told the police like 2500$ worth of stuff. That’s actually what the MEDIA said. They admitted that much. Then apparently the owner now denies he ever called them.

But that’s in their records. And he is cowarding away. But he better find his balls, because there’s no way he doesn’t end up testifying.

Hi.

“unarmed black jogger “

Didn’t he have a hammer? In the videos, he wasn’t dressed for jogging. The only time he was “jogging,” was when he was running away.

Oh, forgot black jogger.

If wrong, I apologize.

I saw an article or two where the owner, I think his name is English, denied anything ever being taken. He probably thinks that by denying it, that he won’t have to be involved. He’ll find out that won’t be the case. Thanks for keeping me in the loop on your findings. I haven’t seen the video of him in the boathouse. Do you have a link for that? It looks like this place was Arbery’s home away from home. Makes you wonder how he got there at night. I read he lived 8 miles away, but that his mother lived in the area. Not sure if that’s true. And there’s been no report that they found his car parked on another block after he was killed, so the question still remains how did he get there all the times he visited that house?

"Did this actually happened?"

He reported the stolen handgun to the police the same day he found it missing. That, and other info is in this article published today.

Travis McMichael named in 2 incidents police responded to in the weeks before Ahmaud Arbery's death

The owner of the house, guy named English, has claimed in some articles that nothing was ever missing from the property, but in other articles, he is quoted as saying that $2500 worth of fishing equipment was stolen, but then claims he never reported it. Now who let's $2500 worth of fishing equipment be taken, and not report it? That's B.S.

There is also a video of a person walking inside the same house 12 days before the incident. It was taken at night, and the person appears to be wearing a surgical mask and possibly a knitted cap. But if you compare it to the other video of Arbery, it sure looks like him...similar short pants, shuffling walk, arms hanging at his side. According to the article with this new video, Travis McMichael called 911 that evening after seeing someone in the home:

'He was acting like he was he was armed': Surveillance footage emerges of man 'trespassing' at construction site and the 911 call made by Ahmaud Arbery's killer to report it - 12 days before black jogger was shot dead by father and son

Thanks for posting this.

Yes, I’ve seen several threads today shedding more light on why the McM’s chased down the “jogger”.

Debate whether or not this was a lawful citizens arrest. Debate if this was or was not murder.

But one thing is not open for debate. The McMillers neighborhood was a crime magnet.
