House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reportedly drafting legislation that would assist states and local governments that have seen their economy contract amid the coronavirus pandemic, but any new bill is expected to face resistance from Republicans who’ve said they have been largely left out of negotiations.

The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that the legislation may be completed this week and inject more than $750 billion into state and local governments’ coffers. The report pointed out that House Democrats have not engaged with the GOP-controlled Senate and Republican representatives.

Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., said, “We’ve really not been invited into those discussions yet.”

No. No. No.

If that concept is so right - bailing out the states due to revenue losses from the forced economic shut downs, then to where can the federal government go for such aid????

Of course what the Dims would really like is a more unitary state for the whole country where nearly everything came out of a federal budget, and nearly all authority in any sphere was federal.

Federal money always comes with purse strings and the way to put the states under greater federal authority is to open the federal purse and add more federal purse strings. Taking advantage of a crisis is a good time to do that - like the “new deal” was.

Ok, if there is one class of people on planet Earth that DON’T need any financial help,

It’s American Government Workers.

They’re last on list but they put themselves first.

Her evil machinations were explained pretty well by Kevin McCarthy on Levin’s TV show last night in the first half hour.

I’m concerned that even if people had been able to stay at their jobs, pay the normal taxes, etc., states would still be crying for more money & the feds too, of course. Well, many people have been out of work so let the governments do what the people themselves have to do.....without. Anytime the Democrats want any kind of bailouts you can bet that some or all of it is destined for unfunded pension plans or other pork. Nancy needs to be told to pound sand.

It appears to me that state & local authorities have caused most of their own problems by keeping people out of the workplace. Now they want these government groups to get money they lost because of their own rules? Seems pretty absurd to me. Of course, that’s usually what would appeal to a Democrat anyway.

Inject more than $750 billion into state and local governments coffers.

Wonder how many governors in blue states will buy a new house or move into a bigger one,Pelosi the queen of kickbacks.

When this fails the blue states will re-open. The governors fear the unions more than they fear Nancy Pelosi and the blue states are out of money due to the lockdowns. The union employees are about to lose their paychecks.

Tie the aid to voter ID. That will kill it.
