I think if you had a family member in a New York state retirement home...the number one priority at this point is to move that relative out of the state as soon as possible.
I would add....if you are a non-retiree, there’s enough on the table to persuade you that NY state is finished and it’s time to look for work somewhere else. Move the family out, and just accept the fact that this system there is screwed up.

On May 7th they enforced this same damn rule to the nursing homes in Ventura County absolute insanity!! Nursing home MUST re-admit CV 19 positive patients released from hospitals!! OMG I am so damned angry over this in the county we have had 19 deaths and 17 were in nursing homes the number of deaths in this county which are next to nothing population 900,000 will now skyrocket BASTARDS!! Everyone needs to remove their elderly from nursing homes NOW!{

When I brought this up to my step-mother, she hadn’t heard anything about it. When she asked her son, he aparantly began a rant that I could hear over the phone, yelling about the liars at Fox News.
They only watch MSNBC.

At least other countries, like Italy, and even China, waited until their hospitals were well beyond capacity before they wrote off the elderly.
This policy was implemented in March when Cuomo thought the hospitals would be overrun, and he feared scenes like Italy would be on the nightly news. So he made the decision in advance to do everything he could to prevent that, Nursing Homes be damned. In the end, they had hospital capacity to spare, and he intentionally infected Nursing Homes while hospital beds sat empty. But at least there were no cameras.
Remember the anti-GOP ad where Paul Ryan pushed Granny off the cliff? Cuomo actually did it.
