BRUNSWICK, Ga. A quick acting police officer in Brunswick stopped a teenager with a loaded gun from entering a high school basketball game Tuesday night.
Police arrested 19-year-old Ahmaud Marquez Avery (pictured below), who is not a student at Brunswick.
"The man ran through the parking lot. I tried to get him to stop as well. He would not stop for us," said Glynn County Schools Chief of Police, Rod Ellis. "We ended up chasing him to the back of the school were other officers helped us apprehend him."
Ellis said the .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun slipped out of the teen's pants.

You sound like you have absolutely no idea about gun laws, like you are from another planet.
Yeah, Trayvon was such a sweet kid that he used concrete to try to smash George Zimmerman’s skull. Luckily, George was carrying.
I always wonder who are the gullible people the media gets to fall for their BS. Where here you are.
I recall there were three black males and one black female who tortured and murdered that young white couple.
Where did this thug live?
I find it quite ironic that you have a quote on your page about men thinking in herds, yet that is precisely what you are doing with the spoonful media narrative.
Think for yourself instead of spewing media talking points.
Break from the herd.
Accident? Martin was trying to kill Zimmerman.
Rhino’s right about Martin. Martin attacked him. George didn’t even pull his gun until Martin was pounding his head into the concrete. Martin was on top of him pounding his head into the ground and George pulled his gun and shot him in the chest.
George was following Martin around the neighborhood as there had been break-ins.
I lived there. Walked through the neighborhood where it happened, visited the 7-11 Martin went to and followed the trial from start to finish.
Martin was bad news and ran into the wrong dude. \\
It was no accident.
Yes, carrying a gun 6 years ago is a real history.
First, it is illegal in most places to own a gun under 21.
Second, there is this thing clearly gun free school zones where carrying a gun is illegal.
Additionally, my bet would be that the gun was off the streets and was illegally possessed. THAT is an additional crime.
Yet you seem to want to overlook all of the crimes committed in this one incident. There are people rotting in prison for violating these laws.
Why are you okay with these laws being broken by this thug?
Did I say he won the lottery? Did I say he deserved to die?
What does brandishing a gun against someone even mean?
Are you trying to say he was holding him at gun point?
Or that he was just holding his gun which is legal in an open carry state.?
So I can shoot anyone carrying or holding a gun ?
Again, should someone be able to kill me if I did that?
I don’t think anyone is implying that. I haven’t seen much about this case but I did see a man dash across the front of a pickup truck and grab the barrel of a shotgun.
I would say it is now up to the police and the GBI to determine exactly what the evidence is. I do not have an opinion at this point but I do know it is not an open and shut case in either direction.
1. He wasn’t merely walking down the street.
2. What’s your definition of threatening someone with a gun?
3. Are you suggesting we allow burglars and car thieves to have their way in our neighborhoods and just watch then run away so when the cops arrive, they’re long gone? Only to come back the next day and do it again?
4. Do you also think it’s wrong for walmart guards to block shoplifters from leaving the store until police arrive?
“He was jogging.”
Perfect.
He can claim self defense (but he is dead)
He wasn’t the aggressor, the murdering morons were
You have the right to defend yourself
Welcome to America
He was “jogging” “running” “walking” down the street, which is not a crime
Having a gun out in an argument where the gun holder was chasing down the victim in his pick up truck, blocked the man on the street from continuing on, having the gun out visibly, yes, that is threatening someone with a gun.
No, call the cops, just because someone trespassed on a construction site doesn’t mean it gives you the right to chase him down and execute him
Walmart guards are protected by “citizen arrest” laws, they can hold you until the cops come, those are the laws in most states.
Trespassing through a construction site doesn’t warrant a execution, sorry.
So I can shoot anyone carrying or holding a gun ?
If they are playing cop, chasing you down, preventing you from continuing on and threatening you with it, sure, you have the right to self defense.
They drew weapons against a man with no weapons, these morons are not cops
I do not see any evidence of that in the video.
He attacked an armed man, and was shot in the grappling for the shotgun.
I have not seen any evidence any gun was pointed at him before he attacked the son who had the shotgun.
The school where he was carrying a gun wasnt his school, too. He was trying to take the shotgun away from the son and it went off in the struggle. That is not premeditated murder. It is enough manslaughter to warrant arrest and processing.
By the morons own admission they were there to “arrest” this man under “citizen’s arrest”, which doesn’t apply here since neither of them witnesses a crime and were in immediate danger of this “jogger”.
They sought this man out, chased him with their trucks, yelled at him to talk to them, held a shot gun in their hands, approached this man on the public road, they were the aggressors in this entire encounter.
All of that matters and the jury is going to see that
Murder 2 minimum, maybe murder 1 since they were looking to “arrest” him.
They did not block him.
They may have wanted to stop him, but they did not do so.
They yelled at him to stop, they wanted to talk to him.
