Biden Has Become an Albatross for the Democrats
Townhall.com ^ | May 7, 2020 | Victor Davis Hanson

Joe Biden is the apparent Democratic presidential nominee. After all, he had a seemingly insurmountable lead in delegates going into the rescheduled August convention in the postponed Democratic primary race.

Biden was winning the nomination largely because he was not the socialist Bernie Sanders, who terrified the Democratic establishment.

Biden was also not Michael Bloomberg. The multibillionaire former New York City mayor who jumped into the race when Biden faltered and Sanders seemed unstoppable. But Bloomberg spent $1 billion only to confirm that he was haughty, a poor debater and an even worse campaigner. He often appeared to be an apologist for China and seemed clueless about the interior of the United States.

The least offensive candidate left standing was Biden. Many Democratic primary voters initially had written him off as an inept retread, a blowhard and an impediment to the leftward, identity-politics trajectory of the newly progressive Democratic Party.

On the campaign trail, Biden insulted several voters, using insults such as "fat," "damn liar" and, weirdly, "lying dog-faced pony soldier."

Long ago he spun tall tales about how in his youth he had taken on a Delaware street gang with a 6-foot chain or slammed a bully's face into a store counter. More recently, he taunted President Trump with tough-guy boasts about taking him behind the proverbial gym and beating him up.

The bet here is that, “Demented Joe” will not be the RAT nominee.

The albatross was created the first time (decades ago) the MSM winked at Biden’s flaws and failings.

It's the only way to explain how so many incompetent and corrupt people find their way to positions of responsibility and authority...Republicans and Democrats, both.

That's the real evil with an over indulged media and a compromised educational system.

If he’s such an albatross then why are people like Hanson so afraid of him? They sure seem to spend a whole lot of time complaining about Biden. If he’s so bad then shut up and let the Democrats run him.

‘So he is trying to appeal to the nervous nellies suburban female vote.’

dumb move; he will never get any widespread support from that cohort...

He does not need to drive large numbers of them to the polls. He just needs to keep them on the fence.

Biden will never debate Trump. He can’t. The rats will recruit someone else. Unfortunately the bullpen looks more iffy every day. Today there is no way they can put their bets on Big Mike or Clinton. The democrats just don’t know how big of a problem Durham will be. We all know, if he wants, Durham can have Obama indicted and Clinton in jail, the evidence is there. Do the dems have the faith in the DS to protect these two? Cuomo realizes that Trump could go mid evil on his catastrophic Wuhan plague response, so I doubt he’s interested. Who else is left after these three?

‘He just needs to keep them on the fence.’

keep them on the fence...? you mean, keep them from voting at all...? how do you propose that he can do anything to keep a large contingent of voters from exercising its option to vote...?

Simple for the DNC — Biden will somehow “contract” the virus. President Trump will be blamed for his death by the media. Il Duce Cuomo will replace him.

The election theft will somehow take place in the Pelosi controlled House of Representatives perverting the Electoral College

Let’s say they can get rid of Biden or pressure him enough to step down.

What then? How does the Democrat Party establishment then just parachute in a candidate nobody voted for ahead of Bernie who many did actually vote for? The Bernie Bros and lots of moderates would be utterly disgusted by such a farce.

Next question - who would they want to replace Biden with? The lack of good candidates is what got them Biden in the first place.

Not riled-up at Trump enough to go out and cast a protest vote against him.

Not enamored of Slow Joe (or perhaps feeling too bad for the fragile state of his health) to drag themselves out to go vote for him.

C’mon now, you knew what I was saying.

This is just gaslighting for the democrap convention in July. I have no doubt they have another candidate to nominate then.

There is one candidate and one candidate only who could ever unite the various factions, and that is Big Mike.

Except Big Mike is lazy, having everything handed to s/him on the basis of multiple aggrieved left-side-of-the-bell-curve statuses. The VP slot doesn't have that much to do except make sure nobody wants to kill or impeach the P. It's absolutely the perfect role for her, and Trump would have a challenge defeating a Plugs deep-gov-puppet/Angry Big Mike ticket.

I firmly believe that the donkeys expected to throw Biden overboard *after* the convention, at which time they could put in place whatever hand-picked stooge they’d settled on, probably put in place as their VP pick.

What they absolutely did *not* want is to dump him *before* the convention, as that would either force them to take Sanders (suicide) or force them to sabotage Sanders (infuriating the Sanders cult into staying at home as an alternative form of suicide).

All that was upset by the Tara Reade stuff. That left them with roughly three approaches.

1) “Nothing happened”. But that destroys the “believe all women” narrative.

2) “Something happened, but it wasn’t that bad”. But that destroys the “we really care about women and Republicans hate women” narrative.

3) “Something bad happened, but Orange Man worse”. That’s essentially the Politico founder’s position - but that exposes the true nature of the Dems, which is for all intents and purposes “we don’t believe in a damn thing except the acquisition of power”.

The interesting thing is that the right person (like the young Bill Clinton, not the old, creepy Harvey Weinstein / Jeffrey Epstein Bill Clinton) could have pulled off any one of those approaches. But not Slow Joe - they dare not even let him out of the basement.

So the best hope of the Dems is to hope all the sex stuff just goes away (hence Nancy Pelosi’s “no more Tara Reade questions”) and/or that there’s more WuFlu bad news to distract the proles.

They are counting on the media to dress him up and turn his image into that of a wonderful, intelligent, sharp, respectful of women, multi-tasking, wise, skilled, etc statesman. The media is all in for this, and will willingly hide all gropey-joe’s gropings.
Even if it convinces a few, a lot of democrats will not feel any enthusiasm for him, and not bother to vote.
But the dems have something they can fall back on, something they always use: voter fraud. It should be easier this year to create millions of votes out of thin air.
We have massive enthusiasm on our side. We have all those voters who are really outraged at the rapid turn to fascism shown by democrats. We feel Trump has been wronged, slimed and trashed unfairly. We will drag ourselves to the polls no matter what.
