“Cuomo: 66 Percent of New Hospitalizations Are From People Staying Home”

Could be the dumbest thing Cuomo’s claimed yet - and he’s said some mighty stupid things!
People don’t get a virus from being alone, it’s when people come to them and give it to them that they get it. This is hardly a rocket science level thing to realize and understand.

The “experts” are still all over the map with this thing and their models/projections. They continue to ignore the most important thing about the model - demographics.

The elderly and those with serious underlying health conditions are by far the most vulnerable to this virus.

Younger people in reasonably good shape have almost nothing to fear from this virus outside of their ability to transmit it to the elderly and vulnerable.

This is what the data now shows, but this IS NOT the data they used to model projections for the entire nation. There is no longer any justification to keep the majority of the country shut down, but there is a justification to keep the elderly and vulnerable sheltered away from the rest of us until we learn more.

Why Trump is not yelling this from the rooftops is beyond me, but he is surrounded by people who seem to be ignoring what I wrote above and a media engine still focused on hysteria.

NYC is NOT the rest of the nation. It never was. It is a very unique place. A person in NYC with an average daily commute on the subway and a walk of a few blocks on a sidewalk has infinitely more contact with the virus than a person in any small town in the USA. A person in NYC breathes far more air that was breathed by others than the rest of America. Their exposure is exponentially higher.

Again -

There is NO logical reason to have the majority of the country locked down based on what we now know and have known for many weeks. None. There is and will continue to be reasons to keep the elderly and vulnerable safe from the rest of us until we get a better grasp on this thing.

I understand why we made the decisions in March and the early parts of April. We did not know with a high degree of certainty the truth about this virus. Beginning early last month the data became clear, the “models and projections” were shown to be badly overstated, and the “justification” for a one-size fits all approach was no longer valid.

Testing has proven this to be true with astronomical numbers of asymptomatic positive tests.

This thing has mostly been politics and bad expert advice from the 2nd week of April and on.....

Being New York, I have to wonder if air systems and elevators, combined with people being lax, play a part.

Maybe they are getting it from the packages and mail that is delivered to their homes. I pick up my mail with tongs and put it aside for 4 or 5 days before opening it. And when I do open, I clean my hands with 91% alcohol immediately.
