NYC Mayor de Blasio: City Can't Afford Restart Without Federal Money
Newsmax ^ | May 6, 2020 | Newsmax

New York City's new coronavirus cases are dropping, but Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday that he is concerned that the city will have difficulty reopening considering the money that has been lost while being slammed by the disease.

"How are we going to afford to restart our city if right now we are literally out of money?" the mayor said on CNN's "New Day." "(We are) $7.4 billion in the hole because we've lost so much revenue. It's only going to get worse. How do we pay for all the basic services we need, all the people who have been the heroes of the crisis, police, fire, EMTs, health care workers, educators? There's no money."

Sometimes the news is just too good. Imagine if NYC city government never opened up and there was no Mayor DeBlasio.

Looks like it’s time to hold the state legislators accountable for all that vote buying they do with state money.

Looks like it’s time to go through *all* that state’s bureaucracy with a torch and pitchfork type financial inquisition along with each county and city.

Looks like it’s time to find all those who’ve bought “no show” jobs and run them up the flag pole.

Looks like its time to quit with the gross over pay and massive bene packages for state, county and city employees.

Looks like it’s time to seriously rethink how unions are allowed to operate.

Looks like it’s time to start drawing up laws making *all* legislators at *every* level responsible for the financial solvency of the level of gov they control.

He should have thought of NYC’s problem years ago and not become a sanctuary city with a bloated welfare, government and high pensions.

Why should he, when the Press has his back, and will just blame the nearest Republican for everything?

What, you don't think using a large city's subway system as an overnight homeless shelter is a good idea?

People in Kansas and Utah should pay for New York mismanagement and corruption!

Yep, and while we're at it ALL responsible states (those who 'live within their means') should bail out Chicago's liberal thugs - - and California's... and ... and ... and...

Then don’t open up.

I can’t afford a vacation, so I don’t go.

Don’t freaking open. Be like my local restaurant, DON’T OPEN UP.

NYC Mayor de Blasio should look at the city’s liberal ‘non-profits’ and cut their funding.

Non-profits are little more than payoffs for corrupt democrat community ‘leaders’ - millions of dollars to ‘help’ the same 300 people other corrupt ‘non-profits’ are passing around to keep their numbers up.

Do a poll in New York: “HAVE YOU ever been helped by a non-profit?”

Since many NYers fled to 2nd homes along coastal towns the coastal Governors would be wise to open and allow businesses to make some money before the NYers flee again.

I suggest you have some CPAs look at the city’s books.

That is a direct threat towards his wife!

Individuals and private businesses have to ask these questions each and every day.

Suggest Mr. Mayor you start evaluating your budget and start cutting the unnecessary spending.

That's what YOU get paid to figure out.

Shocking that a liberal would say he/she doesn’t know how to balance a budget. Maybe a new mayor can figure it out
