New York City's new coronavirus cases are dropping, but Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday that he is concerned that the city will have difficulty reopening considering the money that has been lost while being slammed by the disease.
"How are we going to afford to restart our city if right now we are literally out of money?" the mayor said on CNN's "New Day." "(We are) $7.4 billion in the hole because we've lost so much revenue. It's only going to get worse. How do we pay for all the basic services we need, all the people who have been the heroes of the crisis, police, fire, EMTs, health care workers, educators? There's no money."

Inevitable. And the plan all along.
Trump to City: Drop Dead
The 1970s called. They want their hellhole back.
boo-hoo. Borrow it from your wifes ill-gotten gains, you crook.
Go ahead, bite The Big Apple, don’t mind the maggots.
Fine. Support the President by RESIGNING.
LOL, total loser. The Federal Government can’s afford to bail out every failed Democrat mayor. This guy has waited until today to clean the subways. Something that should be done daily except he prefers to use them to house his ever growing homeless and illegal population and use monies to spend on illegals.
His own incompetence has bankrupted his city - #nocitybailouts
Federal money... Is My Money. Not a dime, Dick.
Jack up the phony death count, say they spent it all on them, beg for bailouts.
NO.
Perfect... Sha...Sha...Sha, Shattered...
You shouldve thought of that before you taxed the hell out of people chased productive people and businesses out
And welcomed and subsidized people here illegally and their offspring with sanctuary city status
You stupid POSSOB
Cut your hefty pensions for a year.
Perhaps the City of New York should NOT restart. Let it become a conjoined group of smaller cities, of Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and maybe a couple of other boroughs spun off as separate municipalities as well.
New York City is too cumbersome for one ruling entity anyway.
Dang. Looks like ‘nyc’ ain’t gonna reopen.
I don’t know Bill . Sounds like you got a serious budget problem on your hands.
I suggest you have some CPAs look at the city’s books.
Look for ways to trim expenses. Maybe you will have to do what Democrats do best which is raising taxes to make ends meet.
Even if anyone thinks federal aid to distressed cities and states should happen, the fact is that the federal government is broke. It’s not as if there is a bag of money in the federal treasury with billions of dollars in it waiting to be parceled out to states and cities which need it.
People in Kansas and Utah should pay for New York mismanagement and corruption!
You should have thought about that two months ago.
> How do we pay for all the basic services we need... <
Ill field that one.
1. Cut all unnecessary programs.
2. Temporarily reduce salaries. Folks near the bottom, maybe by 10%. Folks near the top, by 50% or more.
My prediction: de Blasio will do neither. To the contrary, hell add unnecessary programs with well-paid staffers. Then hell wait for middle Americas tax dollars to bail him out. And that just might happen if the Democrats win in November.
