That attempted coup happened months and months ago. I was wondering why is the capture of two Americans being announced just now? If they were connected, seems they would have left as soon as failure of the project became clear, not eight months later.

Saw the video this morning.
Venezuela was displaying a US passport that allegedly was of one of the two men.
Now, can anybody chime-in and tell me what special operations soldier goes on a clandestine mission, mercenary or not, carrying a passport?
