Trump cheers on governors as they ignore White House coronovirus guidelines in race to reopen

WASHINGTON - States across the country are moving swiftly to reopen their economies despite failing to achieve benchmarks laid out by the White House for when social distancing restrictions could be eased to ensure the public's safety during the coronavirus pandemic.

These governors' biggest cheerleader is President Donald Trump.

A slew of states - such as Texas, Indiana, Colorado and Florida - have pushed forward with relaxing social distancing guidelines as the number of people testing positive in many states has increased in recent weeks and testing continues to lag. White House recommendations released last month encouraged states to wait to see a decline in cases over a two-week period as well as having robust testing in place for front-line workers before entering "Phase One" of a gradual comeback.

I know it is anecdotal but prisons and packing plants with people on top of each other have many positive cases, almost all with no symptoms. That should tell SCIENCE something that they could follow up on instead of compromised, in bed oligarchs pushing their dreamchild vaccine.

The so called “guidelines” are garbage. President Trump should not have agreed to them in the first place. The blue state are gaming the numbers to delay meeting the guidelines requirements as long as possible.
It’s all about keeping the economy down till November.

Testing for coronavirus is like testing for teeth. The more people you test, the more “positives” you’ll get. All that matters to me is the death count. That counts an event. And then I need to know the age and existence of any co-morbidity. only then can we actually respond correctly to this thing.

Open up this country! The “guidelines” come from the mouths of government science-bureaucrats whose income from the taxpayers is very high, not restricted by various closings they recommend. They don’t give a rat’s a** about anything but continuing to get their checks and retirement. They have no skin in the game. They are compromised in many ways (political and otherwise) by being in government for their whole careers. How could they not help but acquire some of the negative stereotypes of life-long government “workers”? They have been wrong more than they have been right. Will they ever admit this?...NO!

Let the red states reopen while the blue states go broke.

Far too correct and pragmatic! How will the MSM be able to deal with such data and weave it into their "The Sky is Falling" screeds??

> The more people you test, the more “positives” you’ll get.

Yep. So the real benchmark (not the MSM interpretation) is the rate of positive as a ratio.

See the “number of cumulative coronavirus tests and percent positive” chart for MI at https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/0,9753,7-406-98163_98173_99225-—,00.html

Do we see a steady decline? Why, yes we do. Of course more tests means more positives, but more tests and fewer relative positives means we’re over the top.

That *is* the recommendation. The media just turned it around on purpose to use against Trump because that’s their sole purpose in life.

Using the raw number is a game played only by hateful people in media and those who can’t or don’t want to do math.

That was wordy but in case it got lost, I’m agreeing with you :) and trying to point at the better and IMO intended stat.

Note that MI buries this data deep in their site because the unmentionable in charge doesn’t want truth.

Trump has talked out of both sides of his mouth. He claims sole authority to reopen the country which means he had the sole authority to close it in the first place, but then claims the governors make the decisions.

If so, it’s really about creating a laboratory test case of blue governance v. red governance.

I don’t think Mr. Trump will mind being thrown into that briar patch.

Everything Trump has a deeper meaning

Now the rat states are stuck with an untenable situation

While the rat states are delaying the opening, screaming about tests

The red states are rapidly opening

Rat state residents becoming more vocal against their State House as they suffer the stupid restrictions.

None of it makes ANY difference.

When the government threw in the $13000-$39000 Covid-19 bounty, all meaningful recording of the pandemic flew out the window.

Yep. Here in your old stomping grounds (Washington State), “Phase I” includes opening of fishing, hunting, hiking trails and golf courses. Why the heck were they even closed in the first place!!??

And I FINALLY get to go fishing on Mothers Day for the first time in YEARS. Life has gotten in the way the past 4-5 years. Last time we had our boat in the water was 2013. I’m so looking forward to it. I love fishing. Few things I need in life: Hubby, my guitar, my garden, fishing and beer.

‘And then I need to know the age and existence of any co-morbidity. only then can we actually respond correctly to this thing.’

I have been saying this since day one to the yokels in the local FB page, and I have been called any number of vicious slurs for my efforts...’this says a lot about you, an awful lot’, and ‘I have relatives I fear will catch this, the governor is trying to help and you have the audacity to complain...’
I don’t expect the average guy to have the bravery of a seasoned warrior, but damn, do they have to be so bleeping pusillanimous all the time...?

“It’s all about keeping the economy down till November.”

And that’s part of the reason Trump is inviting the push to reopen. Anyone with any gray matter knows it is going to spike cases of flu when it happens. But instead of the liberal governors letting it take it’s course like it has every year for about 10 generation, they politicized it and now they can’t gracefully get out of it. Before they destroy their states economies, they have to turn the kraken they fed loose. And they will have to take the “hit” for doing it. And Trump is helping them.

It isn’t draining the swamp. It’s allowing the leaches and snakes to die of starvation in it.

The so called guidelines are only cover to extend the shutdown another 2-4 months.

‘Everything Trump has a deeper meaning’

this article is told from the anti-Trump perspective, attempting to show him as champing at the bit to kill grandma and grandpa; fact is, he’s pretty much in the background of these state openings, (as well he should be)and, it can in fact be argued after his bizarre press briefing where he trashed the governor of GA for reopening, he’s in the way of them...

I see nothing ‘deep’ in what Trump is doing or has done so far regarding opening the country; if the governors didn’t wish it, there would be no movement whatsoever...
