Glenn, Jr., USMC, set the Transcontinental air speed record, flying a F8U-1P Crusader from NAS Los Alamitos to NAS Floyd Bennett Field, New York, in 3 hours, 23 minutes, and 8.4 seconds. Project Bullet, as the mission was called, provided both the first transcontinental flight to average supersonic speed, and the first continuous transcontinental panoramic photograph of the United States. Sounds like fun.

Try to get them to let you use the HMMWV Egress Assistance Trainer.

Having a certificate that says you know how to get into and out of a vehicle might come in handy someday.

It was sunny and hot this morning, so I planted 35 tulip bulbs for a neighbor. She was recently hospitalized (NOT COVID) and so I helped her with getting those bulbs in the ground.

Then I made lunch and went for a ride on Blue down to the ocean and back...not far.

Then Penny and I walked over to my sister’s house.

Upon returning, I found some Harley-Davidson paraphernalia on my porch. They were my friend’s...the one who died Thursday (not COVID) and her sister thought I would enjoy having them. I mentioned how much I loved Cora and her sister said Cora always spoke about how much she loved me.

Kind of a bittersweet day all around.

Governor Tommie the Commie Wolf is using a red-yellow-green color code county by county for opening up.

The entire People’s Republic of Pennsyltucky is “red” (lockdown) until Thursday.

On Friday 24/67 counties get to move to “yellow”

Whoopdehoo!

Still no haircuts, still no restaurants, still to bars, still no state liquor stores. About the only thing better about “yellow” is that “large groups” are then deinfed as >25 rather than >10.

Oh yeah—my County ISN’T one of the “lucky” 24.

We haven’t had plowable snow since early January.

April was the coldest in my quarter century of record keeping. May is headed the same way—NE PA may see snow on Wednesday and Friday. Definitely too soon for planting garden.
