China's Xian H-20 stealth bomber completes nuclear triad, could make debut this year

China's newest supersonic stealth bomber -- which doubles the country's strike range and completes its nuclear triad -- could be ready for rollout later this year but Beijing has purportedly been weighing the step and what it could mean for escalating regional tensions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.

The highly-hyped Xian H-20 puts Australia, Japan, and the Korean peninsula all within shot and could spell trouble for the United States down the line.

"If the H-20 does have the range and passable stealth characteristics attributed to it, it could alter the strategic calculus between the United States and China by exposing U.S. bases and fleets across the Pacific to surprise air attacks," National Interest reported.

Not stolen, sold to them by FOB

Apparently, the saying "Only the good die young" is true. Hitlery and Sex Pistol Bill are still above ground, unfortunately, as is Bush.

The Clintons probably sold them the plans to the B-2.

Any stealth bomber is going to be some sort of flying wing. It’s pretty much the only shape that would work.

The key details to look for is if it has vertical stabilizers.

You can get pretty good stealth by canting these at an angle (like proposed later models of the F15), but none at all is best for stealth.

Getting away with “none” requires really clever computer programming and engines and control surfaces that micro adjust as the software tells it to.

I doubt the Chinese could pull off “none”. Earlier prototypes of this jet had vertical stabilizers.

The second thing to look for is engine output and intake. Best is “all on top of the wing” that blocks IR from the ground and (to a degree) most other directions. This is a crappy place to put engines, so again requires a powerful engine that is also able to be microadjusted. I suspect the Chinese will punt on this, as well, and have front intakes and a top mounted exhaust.

If they pull off no stabilizers and a top mounted engine, they stole tech.

The Chinese are anything but stupid. They would have ZERO chance of prevailing in a military conflict with us. They are at least 15-20 yrs behind us in both armament and technology despite what the Commie loving media here likes to tell us.

LOL!
Only Faux would be dumb enough to fall for this.
There are several reasons the B1 and B2 are NOT supersonic

I didn’t intend to critique your post, I’m just annoyed at the state of US military readiness, and the inability to get big projects done at a reason price. Even if their knockoff version is inferior, if they can produce hundreds, at a fraction the cost, it creates an existential risk for us. The bulk of our military power is still rooted in tech and projects from the 70s and 80s.

I definitely agree. We have a lot of improvement to do with Acquisitions. Everything costs too much and takes too long.

Yep. Also, they aren't temperamentally suited to war. Apologies for mentioning race, but nobody can beat the white man for courage, ingenuity and determination when it comes to war. That's why WWI and WWII were such bloodbaths: they were white vs. white. If China attacks us, it'll be via biological warfare or sustained cyberattack or EMP weapons -- something like that. Perhaps it's already begun . . . We've already been in a low-level financial attack for decades.

They've used Russian engines in the past, but they have started using they own recently. I haven read anything about what's in the H-20, but they are very good at stealing tech and manufacturing, so I wouldn't assume they will continue to be reliant on importing engines.

Back in 2013 China announced that it was investing $16 billion in an effort to fix some of its problems encountered manufacturing high-performance (as in world-class) jet engines. Although China has been working on this for over three decades, continued problems with materials durability, efficient design and quality control have prevented Chinese engines from being competitive with Western models. That large investment appears to have paid off because by 2019 all new Chinese jet fighters were entering service with one of several variants of the WS10 engine.

“...Undoubtedly its technology was stolen from us....”

Given how easily our tech info is stolen, there is probably some content in this “thing”, whatever it really is. Stealing technology is what the ChiComs do.

Maybe some day this country will get serious about really protecting our science by keeping the ChiComs OUR OF THIS COUNTRY and getting our businesses our of Commie China.

Every “advanced” weapon system the Chinese make...is a make believe cartoon prop.

It LOOKS the part, but it’s not real. The underlying fundamentals are never present.

They still cannot manufacture a modern jet engine that will fly over 50 hours. But they mount them in pretty, cartoon fighter jets.

That country is an endless bullshit story.

You may be and probably are right about the Chinese method(s) of attack but just because they choose electronic and biological forms of warfare doesn’t mean we have to do the same. The Chinese need to be aware if they are not already aware that should they do as you suggest they will be laid waste by one of our subs continually on patrol in the oceans of our world. Each of these subs carries up to 24 MIRV missiles with each of them capable of targeting 10 separate locations with each warhead having the destructive force of 25 times that of the bombs we dropped on Japan.

Any idea of a “proportionate” response is nonsense. They swat us with a feather and we drop a mountain on them. They will hate us (even more) and will think us completely mad and ruthless but the upshot is they and anyone else considering taking us on will think long and hard before doing so.

The only thing able to defeat us is our own lack of will.

The are temperamentally and historically suited for internal bloody civil wars and revolts with dead running into the 10s of millions. Which is one of Xi’s greatest fears since he has not consolidated power

"If they pull off no stabilizers and a top mounted engine, they stole tech."

Or, found the "Prandtl-D" NASA paper(s) how to add enough washout to get Proverse Yaw and eliminate the B-2's Drag Rudders, and never need rudders.

Based on Birds, and a long lost Prandtl paper, the Hortens stumbled close to it, if not in it and others, but all those that stumbled upon this realized who did what before them, long story.

Google it, and Utube it. Fascinating stuff, maybe too new for them to add it....
