A call by former President George W. Bush for humanity to jettison partisanship amid the Chinese coronavirus pandemic has drawn a sharp rebuke from President Donald Trump.
Bush published a video message on Saturday urging unity and togetherness amid the coronavirus outbreak, which received 4.4 million views on Twitter as of Sunday morning.
Bushs plea amounted to a call for people to ignore partisanship to protect the most vulnerable and to assist those who have become unemployed.

The presidents (Trump's) response was straight to the point, outlining Bushs absence when Trump was being excoriated during his impeachment proceedings.
.@PeteHegseth Oh bye the way, I appreciate the message from former President Bush, but where was he during Impeachment calling for putting partisanship aside. @foxandfriends He was nowhere to be found in speaking up against the greatest Hoax in American history! Trump tweeted.

“”People of all political parties disparage Bush today and when his name is mentioned at all””
Your post doesn’t touch on any of the items you accused him of and you get the “disparaging” of GWB from FR - not from the general public so you can’t say “people of all political parties”...Where does THAT plus everything else you indicated come from?
How did/was he:
Responsible for Katrina
Cheated in FL election
Lied about WMD
Illegitimate
Not to mention leaving office in total disgrace....That’s not rewriting history?
Dubya Greatest Hits:
“Jobs Americans Won’t Do Anymore”
“Family Values Don’t Stop At The Rio Grande”
“See You At the (Amnesty) Signing”
“Sadly, Reagans biggest mistake was elevating the Bush family horror. Anybody but the Bushes. No Bushes, no Clintoons and no Zero n Mike.”
Taking on GHW Bush as VP was Reagan’s concession to insure support from the GOP Establishment. People forget that Reagan wasn’t popular with them in 1980.
Reagan would have liked Paul Laxalt, his “First Friend” and fellow western state Governor. Reagan’s fault is for not replacing Bush with Laxalt in the 1984 election.
I think I know where GHW Bush IS burning now.
I never said GWB was responsible for any of these things. My opinion is not just from FR either. I watch various commentators on YouTube, not just conservatives but a myriad of opinion, and nearly all trash Bush’s presidency - either for the war or for being an ineffective president.
Rush Limbaugh, himself, who was an open cheerleader for Bush, reached the point late in his second term that he was “tired of carrying the water” for a Bush administration disinterested in defending itself.
I’m sorry you disagree with my assessment, but it doesn’t change anything. Maybe that’s why Trump is so dismissive of Dubya as to tweet as he did.
I guess you missed my original point that he supported Hillary Clinton in 2016. That, to me, was the unforgivable sin. No *real* conservative would have ever done that.
“George W. Bush is no doubt an honourable man.”
You misspelled “reprehensible”. Dubya watched his personal friend Johnny Sutton railroad two Border Patrol agents in a fashion as ugly as what was done to Michael Flynn.
Your original post:
He did lie about WMD.
He was responsible for Katrina.
He did cheat to win Florida.
He was illegitimate.
and now you say this: “I never said GWB was responsible for any of these things.””
Sorry but I think I can be excused for not understanding what you mean but it doesn’t matter - “what difference - at this point - does it make?” It’s a new day/new week tomorrow..let’s hope for no more surprises and justice for Lt. General Flynn!!
The Bushes lost all credibility with me when they supported Hillary in 2016.
GWB is right about putting partisanship aside during a time of crisis but the vast majority of that is on the Left which has sought to undermine DJT at every step for the last 3+ years. Now they see the virus as their ticket back to power, sick as that sounds.
The difference between Bush and Trump is that when the Left and their media savaged Bush, he wouldnt fight back. He left office in total disgrace.
Trump fights them back and fights them hard. Sometimes its not pretty to watch but Ive never, in my lifetime, seen a president more unfairly attacked from the get-go as this one. FISA warrants to leak false info? Spying on his transition team? Efforts to sabotage his cabinet? What president before this has had to face such institutionalized obstacles?
Please note the following about my initial post:
* NOTHING written about Florida.
* NOTHING written about Katrina.
* NOTHING written about illegitimacy.
* NOTHING written about WMDs.
You're apparently referring to post #24 by Flip Wilson, not MY post #42. I want to be clear about this.
You *were* upset about my comment that "He left office in total disgrace." I responded to this charge in post #104 but, again, NOTHING about Florida, Katrina, Illegitimacy or WMDs because that wasn't my post.
So when I replied in post #127, "I never said GWB was responsible for any of these things.", I was telling the truth because I didn't write the post #24 you had cited.
But, yes, let's get justice for Gen. Flynn. The sooner, the better.
Thank you, PR. I think many of us feel the same way.
Only for you to understand apparently. Sorry dont have crayons and sock puppets to explain the original comment I replied to, that you failed to read.
I agree that he will endorse Biden.....I voted against the two guy gwb ran against but Ive always said he was one of the worst president in my lifetime
Oh I read it. And it was a beautiful example of false dilemma reasoning. I hope it was intentional.
[It was a pre-emptive strike ... because its only a matter of time before GWB endorses the bipartisan Joe Biden.]
[I agree that he will endorse Biden.....I voted against the two guy gwb ran against but Ive always said he was one of the worst president in my lifetime]
Yeah, I’ve brought up Laxalt being the right choice. Reagan, in order to get “establishment” support, should’ve just made Bush Sr. Secretary of State or some such and then dumped him after 2 years.
It’s amazing how often being made a Cabinet Secretary is a political dead-end. Nixon “ended” Willard the Rat’s daddy George by plucking him from Michigan Governor (where he was a Presidential contender) and dumping him at HUD where his career as a contender died. Quite brilliant, actually.
GWB doesn’t have anything to say unless it’s a direct or indirect slam against President Trump. Just think how much better off we’d be if we got Quayle/Forbes instead of GWB as Pres!
