Former President George W. Bush called on all Americans to recognize their common humanity and help one another during the current coronavirus pandemic.
"Let us remember how small our differences are in the face of this shared threat," the former president said in a video posted Saturday. "In the final analysis, we are not partisan combatants -- we are human beings, equally vulnerable and equally wonderful in the sight of God. We rise or fall together and we are determined to rise. God bless you all."
Released by the George W. Bush Presidential Center, the video included Bush's audio against the backdrop of various images, including those of people holding American flags.

George (religion of peace) has no credibility.
The Bushes shilled for the Clinton Foundation bigtime. Helped raise million$ for Haiti, which ended up being spent on installing internet service there for a company owned by Friends of Clinton. Yes. FU Georgie. Lied us into war, and lied about the unPatriot Act. What a putz.
Compared to Obola, yes, I did miss W during those dark years.
He was weak on borders. But still I’ll vote for Bush over Gore, Kerry and Obama.
Who is “we” Kemosabe?
Leftists play for all the marbles, like thugs in a street fight. They hate you, and want you dead.
It would have been nice if “principled conservatives” would have at least fought back the last 50 years. Instead, the Establishment foisted designated loser failure theater squish pinata on the electorate like McCain and Romney.
WTF did you expect would happen?
so shut the hell up....
Let me help everyone out here on Free Republic.
I think the video is excellent and I still really like President Bush.
I also still like President Trump and think he is doing an excellent job both as President and in the current crisis.
Let us also be clear that Trump’s current enemies hate this video and hate President Bush about as much as has already been expressed here.
Let me further say to the consternation of most, I believe unfortunately by about 5 years from now, people on this listserv will have the same view of Trump as they do of Bush.
That is really sad and frankly absurd.
Bush is still infinitely better than Gore and Kerry. Trump is infinitely better than Clinton and Biden.
Politics is a compromise and the ability to see that is in no way a compromise to principle.
This nation ought to be 90% of support of President Trump in the current crisis as they were in 911. WE have a dangerous culture of cynicism.
Admitting Bush is good for anything does not make him President again or invalidate your specific concerns. It makes you a reasonably good person.
Hope this is helpful to all the anti-Bush showboats at FR.
I think you got your Bush’s mixed up.
I still wonder why The Gipper couldn’t have picked a better running mate.
I sure hope that Pence will prove himself worthy of being POTUS in 2025 and carry on PDJT’s legacy of putting America First!!
we should beat the bushes.
The Bush's are worthless, the whole lot of them. Actually, worthless is too kind. Their hidden agenda has hurt a lot of people. A lot of them.
Yes, Dubya is (and was) wrong on borders and illegal immigration.
And, he was always too kind to the Dems and the media while they pummeled him on a daily basis.
That said (warts and all) Dubya does love our Country.
He has a special connection with and feeling for those in our Military, and our Vets (me included).
When my "kids" were serving, I always knew that Dubya had their best interests in mind.
Again, he's wrong on illegal immigration. He was weak and too willing to reach across the aisle. He got a lot of other things right.
The alternatives, Kerry and Gore would have been nightmares.
I was very supportive of W, until he said something nasty about Trump. He never said a word about Obama. But he’s going to dis Trump? Dead to me, W.
You’re thinking of his father.
I learned from Trump that we have to defend our borders. Before Trump, I thought it was impossible to do that due to several factors. But yes, Dubya was a decent American and I would had been happy to fight for him if I was in the military. Can’t say the same with a Democrat President.
If he had identified some specific examples of what he is talking about then it could have been a useful statement. However all the politicization of this has been from the Democrat side, consisting of constant attacks on Pres. Trump.
Unite around whom?
He hasn’t learned a thing from the 8 year butt reaming the democrats gave him, has he?
