Is it possible Brazil is suffering this because they do NOT have a Dr. Fauci and the “Scarf lady” for guidance? /s

Wow, it is still winter season, Big woop! Average annual monthly temperature ranges between 80 and 83f. Average annual extremes range from 73 to 91.4f. And you are right, May has the coldest lows of the year, a frosty 73f, but averages 80.8f. https://internetprotocol.co/hype-news/2020/04/14/a-detailed-coronavirus-treatment-plan-from-dr-zelenko/

SO, check out my Comment #59. It sure would be nice to check out the results of using the Zelenko regime. Unfortunately, no one is using the Zelenko regime. It seems like a planned failure set up so vaccines or expensive new drugs will have to be used. After all, why would anyone dependent on support from drug companies or investors want to see a treatment costing $4.00 be a success. Not using the ZINC part of Zalenko’s regime is like giving someone in the wilderness new tires, but failing to put any air in them.

It looks like you are taking a dose suitable for maintaining your zinc levels at a healthy immune protection level. To the extent that HCQ works at all is because some CV victims have normal levels that work a little, but they are soon depleted which is why Zalenko recommends 220 mg. zinc for 5 days. Yesterday I did a lot of research and it seems there are no measured problems for most people using high doses of C, D, and zinc for up to 8 days. After that careful watching is recommended.

I’m surprised they haven’t had major outbreaks of lots of virus problems there, starting at the “favelas” on the hillsides over Rio. I used to live there and it was unbelievable. Cardboard for the sides of the “houses” and some type of corrugated metal for the roofs. The sewage would flow downhill.

Speaking of Brazil, “2001: A Space Odyssey” just started on TCM. Seen it at least a dozen times. But the first time, it was in Brazil. There’s a scene where the guys in the future are in a conference room in a space station. As soon as the scene shows the American flag, there were boos and hisses (even scraping of shoes on the concrete floor). My first thought was “jealousy on parade.”

It’s funny how this illness has become like every other argument. Everyone has staked out their positions and there is no more thinking, just insistence that they are right.

I agree, very funny but also very sad. There are three groups:

1) Those that want the truth, no matter what it is. I want to hope that these are the majority, but unfortunately I may be wrong. These people are taking caution because they are prudent, but are not evangelizing to others one way or the other.

2) Then you have those that are fearful that this virus may result in massive negative health outcomes. However, as bad as it can get it is not an end of days situation. Even in a worst case outcome though, looking at the example of Brazil, Ecuador and Italy/NYC, as bad as the morbidity and mortality of the disease is it is not killing most of the people. Not to say that it has not killed many - it has, for example in the US equivalent to the Americans lost in Vietnam. But most people outside vulnerable groups who get sick many of them don’t even get that sick.

3) Finally you have those that believe it is either nothing (including some who specifically said this news article about Brazil is fake news’ - unfortunately there is footage of the government there using backhoes to dig thousands of graves) or think it is Liberal bias or think it is at the very least exaggerated (eg those who start threads asking if ‘any FReeper knows anyone who has it’). The interesting thing about this group is it will often use ad hominem attacks on those they consider to be ‘fearpers.’ I think many of these people are driven by how the economy has been significantly impacted by COVID (and reactions to COVID), and thus lash out at anything (or anyone) they consider to be helping propagate what they consider to be the fuel (fear) that is supporting the reactions they believe are resulting in actions taken that are massively affecting the economy. I thus understand their reactions - unfortunately they use ad hominem attacks to support their point, and also willfully close their eyes to anything that goes against their position. For example, on a thread a couple of weeks ago that referred to many dead being left on the streets of towns in Ecuador, one evening said that was footage from the past (without offering any evidence). They want to be so right that it’s ‘nothing’ that they end up looking like the kooks in the movie Contagion that claimed it was all a hoax and that some placebo would cure things.

So, that’s what we have. Three groups. Those who just want the truth to come out, don’t want to be sick but don’t want to hide forever and want things to come back to normal. Those that fear this pandemic is far worse than people know and could become even worse when second waves come through. And those that are angry at how the economy has been impacted and thus lash out at anyone and keep saying anything said about the virus that goes against their views is a ‘hoax’ and/or fear mongering.

And thus, you have people unwilling to look at the truth. They just want to be right.

I'm new to zinc, just started taking it a couple weeks ago. I read somewhere that 70MG is the maximum daily dose recommended. I've been on 2,000MG of vitamin C for a couple months and 10,000 IU of D for a couple decades. If I get CV, I'll up the zinc dose.

It might make sense to cut the zinc back to between 25 and 35 mg. for regular use. Also, Zalenko uses 220mg. zinc for 5 days. Loss of taste and smell is now considered a symptom of Covid infection. Loss of taste and smell is also a sign of zinc deficiency.
The 10,000 IU of D might be unnecessarily high. My 6’1” son in Special Forces who suffers SAD in the winter was recently encouraged by his doctor to start taking 5000 IU of D per day. I have now increased my daily to that amount.
The 2000 mg. of C is good if you have a low stress life, but should be in divided doses since it is easily excreted. For over 45 years I have taken 3 to 6 grams a day depending on how my allergies are acting. Since I am allergic to house dust, cigarette smoke, cool weather molds, and ragweed, that is at least 6 months in the year. I take 1500 mg. in the morning and 1000 at bedtime. When my nose gets stuffed up during the day I take 500 mg. or more at 1/2 hour intervals until my nose is open again. On an allergy day this is usually 5 or 6 hours after I took my morning vitamins. Cheers, stay healthy!

Vit D blood level tests is readily available and cheap. Don’t self medicate it at either non productive levels or at overdose levels. Any Dr. you have a relationship with will order the test base upon a phone call, if you describe the right symptoms.

At my answering Comment #62, I failed to notice I had not transferred the Manaus weather link. Sometimes when I transfer a link and print it elsewhere, a new link does not copy because the old one is not gone. https://en.climate-data.org/south-america/brazil/amazonas/manaus-1882/

Yes, you are right. I saw someone somewhere say: this is the problem when you politicize things, you are left just defending your position. But what is required in a situation like this is flexability.

I agree. I take 25mg of zinc every day and 1,000 mg of vitamin C twice a day.
