I'm new to zinc, just started taking it a couple weeks ago. I read somewhere that 70MG is the maximum daily dose recommended. I've been on 2,000MG of vitamin C for a couple months and 10,000 IU of D for a couple decades. If I get CV, I'll up the zinc dose.
It might make sense to cut the zinc back to between 25 and 35 mg. for regular use. Also, Zalenko uses 220mg. zinc for 5 days. Loss of taste and smell is now considered a symptom of Covid infection. Loss of taste and smell is also a sign of zinc deficiency.
The 10,000 IU of D might be unnecessarily high. My 6’1” son in Special Forces who suffers SAD in the winter was recently encouraged by his doctor to start taking 5000 IU of D per day. I have now increased my daily to that amount.
The 2000 mg. of C is good if you have a low stress life, but should be in divided doses since it is easily excreted. For over 45 years I have taken 3 to 6 grams a day depending on how my allergies are acting. Since I am allergic to house dust, cigarette smoke, cool weather molds, and ragweed, that is at least 6 months in the year. I take 1500 mg. in the morning and 1000 at bedtime. When my nose gets stuffed up during the day I take 500 mg. or more at 1/2 hour intervals until my nose is open again. On an allergy day this is usually 5 or 6 hours after I took my morning vitamins. Cheers, stay healthy!
