Decent conservatives are rightly concerned about the suspension of civil rights that protect us from draconian government actions, the bizarre power being relished and crassly used by politicians and the economic disaster resulting from enforced, scientifically questionable lockdowns. Yet however crass, crude and wrongheaded some of these measures are being used, it should not be forgotten just how horrendous this virus is. It is truly a pandemic that has caused unprecedented fear, suffering and death among vulnerable people. The vulnerable include the elderly, those with serious underlying illness and the yet unidentified genetically susceptible. In the absence of a safe, effective vaccine and definite effective treatment the best for those that are vulnerable is isolation and self quarantine. You simply don’t want to incur this illness. That’s not to say that people, especially young people who wish to take some risk and go forth should not have the freedom to do so. However they should know that there is some personal risk as in all human endeavors and must carefully weigh their options.
At what point does President Trump figure that out? He seems to have turned over control to Kusner.
And a lot of them will heve it thrown back in their faces for the foreseeable future.
They may be depressed by that, or they may change. There will not be simple forgiveness without a mea culpa and a realignment.
