President Trump announced Friday that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized the emergency use of Gilead Science's experimental antiviral drug remdesivir to treat coronavirus patients after early results of a clinical study indicated the drug helps speed recovery.
Trump announced the news at the White House alongside Gilead CEO Daniel O’Day and FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn.
"FDA's emergency authorization of remdesivir, two days after the National Institutes of Health's clinical trial showed promising results, is a significant step forward in battling COVID-19 and another example of the Trump Administration moving as quickly as possible to use science to save lives," Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said in a statement.

I read something today about China, Fauci, Bill Gates, and the Clintons working together to produce and push this company and that drug. If true, that’s enough to keep me away from it.
Remdisivir now takes all the headlines away from HQ and will be the heavily touted drug of choice because it has benefits that HQ does not have. It is very expensive and the Industry makes a lot of money with its widespread use% reduction in time to heal for those that survive is much to be preferred to the prophylactic qualities of HQ because cures and preventions by HQ are not FDA approved whereas small improvement by Remd is FDA approved. It is all about getting the bureaucrats and the Pharmaceutical industry properly involved.
I wonder if Remdesivir is more.effective and/or safer for those with certain conditions/on certain meds. The company is donating 1 million treatments to hospitals.
This is all about the money. I see nothing very positive about the results. I would sure like to know who all the heavy investors are.
As a practical matter though physicians will continue to prescribe HQ because it’s being used all over the globe for this.
Does not hurt to have both in the arsenal.
We will know HQ has become the drug of choice when there is no more mention of it in the MSM at all except once or twice passing reference to charlatans who tried to put over that quack cure.
It also shortens the illness is critically ill patients something that hydroxychloroquine has not been shown to do. And the last few patients i gave hydroxychloroquine to it had to be stopped for cardiac side effects Why can’t you be happy we have another arrow in the quiver?

Remdesidumb is slipped in with cheerleading scripts but never scientifically challenged, discussed. Viewers are programmed to accept the script that it’s the inevitable treatment.
And don’t even think of mentioning UV light therapy.
What about the story on the 3 week infant that was critically ill with covid-19 / ARDS like illness?
It is less effective at the later stages of progression, sure, but not ineffective.
