Thirty-eight states have started reopening or are planning to reopen soon from the near-total economic lockdown implemented to try to slow the spread of the CCP virus, according to an Epoch Times tally.
Businesses in 21 states have already started reopening or will be allowed to welcome customers back on May 1.
Alabama, Georgia, Montana, and Tennessee are among the states that have already started reopening. Oklahoma, Utah, and Wyoming are among the states loosening restrictions effective Friday.
The other states that have reopened or are reopening on May 1 are: Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Vermont.
Another 17 governors are planning to ease restrictions in the coming days, including Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, and Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.
The governors in that category have either firmed up the first phase of reopening in their states or outlined plans to have the states start to reopen on a certain date.
The other states with planned reopenings on May 4 or later are Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and West Virginia.
Letting retailers reopen but restricting them to curbside pickup and delivery isnt counted as easing restrictions in the tally.
Some of the states still have most restrictions in place.
The 12 other governors are resisting calls to start relaxing their orders relating to businesses.

Nascar is the second most watched sport on TV and draws millions of spectators. I don’t follow it, but it’s very big.

Red, Republican, Blue, Democrat, Black, New Progressive
these states will reopen in a heart beat once gov workers and pensions are impacted-right now they are fine getting paid etc-that is why they haven’t done the one thing that could help businesses, renters, landlords, and suspend property taxes
Today Gov. Gavin Brylcreem said the former “weeks not months” to re-open is now “days not weeks.” Sounds like he’s feeling the heat and doesn’t want to be too embarrassed by communities, particularly in SoCal, that are increasingly ignoring him.
CT tentatively with a tepid first stage reopening (eg, restaurants for outdoor seating only, which most don’t have) scheduled for May 20th. That’s not particularly soon.
COVID and Population outflow is a bad combination.
There wasn’t anybody locked up in Buncombe County today...it was a ZOO!!! You could have EASILY mistaken it for Black Friday. 80’s this weekend? Batten down the hatches...I will be worling on my garden this weekend to avoid being trampled. Social distancing was NOT to be found.
I feel your pain. It is excruciating watching the states around us loosen restrictions and Cooper seems hell bent on running this state into the ground “to protect us”. I believe he and Northam have a pact to keep their 2 states locked up as long as possible, inflict as much pain as possible and then blame it on Trump. Sad that 2 once solid red states are now slowly turning blue.
Il Duce of WA is still keeping the state closed.
I live in Etowah, just south of Asheville. Traffic is about 50% of what it normally is. Downtown Hendersonville is a ghost town with no businesses open. I think the bakery is open but not much else. Pictures out of downtown Asheville show empty streets and very few people out and about. The national parks and state forests are all barricaded. Where are all these people going? Walmart? Hahahaha
My wife loves it.
0 value to me.
My sympathies to your daughter. We are all finding out that some of our governors’, like Northam, have virtually unchecked powers and can run a police state and destroy as many businesses and lives as they want. There doesn’t seem to be any solution within the existing legal system, so far.
Blackface operating in the red!
I wish I had the opportunity and resources to leave NYC.
My resources would go further, and I could buy firearms.
Looking at the map. Most cases are in Northern VA, I live in a rural area, only cases around here are in the prison, and retirement home. I haven't gone to many places, other then work, there is nothing open. Walmart's rules are to restrictive I am not going to stand in the rain waiting for my turn to go in.
On the bright side we have saved a ton of money in the past couple of months.
Bummer about Hendersonville.
I always liked the place.
Actually; Wal-Mart and Lowe’s were two of the stores where one was in danger of being trampled...north of Asheville.
Bakery? You mean McFarlan’s? Their turnovers rock...I wash them down with a pizza from Amazing...even without this summer’s festivals, Hendersonville is still worth a trip for the eats and local ciders...hope things pick up for them.
The wife and I ate out two days ago here in Tennessee. I had a seafood platter. It was good. Sorry about y’all.
There were some restrictions. Waitresses had to wear masks and gloves; establishment was limited to 50% occupancy (which isn’t a problem yet). They also asked questions before they would let you in: have you been in contact with anyone who has Covid-19? Have you had a dry cough or fever?
I was ready in case they asked about the terminal velocity of an unladen swallow.
