The Department of Homeland Security is reviewing the nation’s many visa worker programs to ensure Americans get American jobs during the economic recovery, the agency chief told Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade.
One option is a curb on Chinese students’ use of the huge Optional Practical Training program, acting secretary Chad Wolf told Kilmeade:
“We’re certainly very concerned regarding a number of these visa programs that Chinese students can use to come into the country and study and stay, and eventually work, we see some of these programs have potentially been abused in the past. So this is work that’s been well underway at the department … We’ll have a series of recommendations that will be teed up, and some of those could include students on what we call a couple of different OPT and CPT which is our Optical [sic] Practical Training [program].”
“We’re taking a look at H-1B’s, the H-2Bs, the H-2As, all of the sort of the temporary worker visas — and there’s many more — to see what kind of changes that we should make,” he said.
Wolf’s statement shows the rapid pre-election progress being in Washington by a series of D.C.-based and grassroots reform groups who want to reduce the annual inflow of immigrants and visa workers.
On April 22, President Donald Trump announced that DHS would trim the inflow of immigrants for 60 days, and he directed his agency chiefs to come up with recommendations for curbs to visa programs in 20 days, for an announcement in 50 days.

That of course is the logical conclusion. All Chinese students now should be considered Spies and kicked out of the country. One was “captured” a few years ago researching dams in southern Ohio. These communist are a danger, time to wake up.

I’m not a sycophant. I will subject all political operatives to discernment. Lord knows, Freepers have been played as a class before. My own republican representative and senator are at odds to my own values, Illegal immigration. What am I to do, declare myself an enemy of the sate. The choice of patriots is becoming more clear.
Even at that, he likes to appoint someone opposed to his views, let them yank their OWN chain and flop around in public, then get rid of them.
Give him time on this; remember the wall. And even the little he's done so far is MUCH more than anyone else has done for 30 years.
Put a moratorium on all worker visas. Rescind any that have been issued. Sent all Chinese and Indians home. Be nice, give them 90 days to self deport.

It is very simple President Trump, under the emergency declaration you have the authority to make sure those jobs go to Americans, quit being two-faced and deliver.
Pandemic or no pandemic that OPT practical training visa has to go. The most widely abused of the bunch IMHO. Sheer numbers absolutely dwarf the others. There are fly-by-night universities that are surviving by rubber stamping work permits under this program in exchange for tuition. The original purpose (give students practical training so they can return home and build their countries) is almost never adhered to anymore.
We have three major solar projects getting started in our state. One of the OPT practical training fields is in solar technology, specifically to become solar technicians. The Americans in my poor rural county thought they were going to get some of those jobs. How did Chad Wolf (ex-lobbyist for the NASSCOM outsourcing group) ever get this job anyway as head of the Department of Homeland Security. Tells you everything you need to know right there.
