I’m a senior and refuse to stay home.I use caution but still go out.
I’m worried that it’s going to be a mandatory lockdown of folks over 70. Sorry, that’s not gong to fly.
Let apprehensive healthy older persons stay home and get unemployment (since many are working), give elderly with other conditions and are under medical care already (the majority of the dead) all the help they need, etc. those who are fine and want to risk it, let them go about their business. It’s not a huge risk anyway.
Oh...the other thing- - break up the mass nursing home industry. A huge number of the elderly who died were already “isolated” in these places, which are nothing but concentrators for disease. Go back to a home care system for people who have the space. For those who don’t, develop more small assisted living facilites. Train and hire plenty of home health aides, let even the elderly develop a basic level of resistance by exposure to daily pathogens, etc. and quit the isolation, which probably reduces their immune system through stress, loneliness and despair.
I’m a senior, still having to work full time thanks to the fascist Kenyan economy, trying to catch up. Thought I was getting there until this idiocy was inflicted on us. Who the hell among us seniors asked the government at any level to protect us. We’ve lived this long by taking responsibility for our own health and affairs. We didn’t ask for it, we don’t want it, and all of our so-called “leaders” at all levels can shove it up their arses. The American people need to pull their heads out of their collective backsides and demand a no-holds or delayed opening of the economy. Those too afraid to come out or those too lazy and dependent to go back to work should receive no further unemployment or any other help from those of us paying taxes. Work or starve, either way it is their choice.

When have any of the guidelines released by the White House been mandatory? They issue guidelines for opening the states and they're ignored. They issue guidelines for social distancing and they're ignored. Any guidelines for seniors issued today will be equally toothless and you'll be free to ignore them too.

Just saw (on FoxBiz) that FDA is approving the Resmesdivir (sp) by Gilead, for COVID.
I hope he mentions that early on CMS changed the regs so that facilities that needed to could refuse to take back WuFlu patients.
This is on the govs. Especially Cuomo. And if a decent investigation takes place, I hope the deaths in Upstate NY are not forgotten. Especially in places like Steuben County.
Seniors in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities have additional issues. Every single one of these folks is either on Medicare or is a dual-eligible. Every facility and state that accepts those residents/patients ignores what Trump has to say/orders at their peril.
Nonsense. Trump can't withhold Medicare and Medicaid is managed by the states and not the Federal Government. This is an election year. Whatever gets announced today will be happy talk and unenforceable.

1) Need to be careful as to what defines a senior, in regards to this WuhanVirus.
First it was 65.
Then it was 60.
Now it’s 55.
2) If it’s defined as 60, how do those folks

Medicare only pays for the first three weeks in a nursing home/skilled nursing facility.
It pays nothing for assisted living.
Maybe Trump saw the video of that poor woman sobbing, and screaming at Cuomo/diBlasio because they told her to put her dead husband on ice — for days — after he died at home. And she screamed, “You can’t blame that on Trump!”
That segment on Hannity last night made me ill. diBlasio and wife were strolling around the park while bodies are piled in a U-Haul at a funeral parlor. People pack their family members IN ICE?!? How terrible.
