Captain Tom Moore, a retired army officer who shot to fame after raising more than £29 million ($NZ59 million) by walking laps around his garden, has been promoted to a honorary colonel and will be honoured with a military fly-by ahead of his 100th birthday.
The veteran drew attention around the world this month with his goal to raise £1000 for the NHS while walking 100 laps around his garden.
In the end, he raised more than £29.3 million ($NZ59.5 million) with his efforts.

My grandfather walked ten miles a day until he was 91. When the weather was bad, he’d do hundreds of laps in his apartment basement.
In his late 80’s he went for a stress test. They finally gave up when they couldn’t get his heart rate to rise.
Raising money for the NHS? Itll go to some bureaucrat who decides how to limit care.

Grandma used to drive grandpa nuts. He’d go out in the garage to load ammo. He spent a lot of time out there on ammo and tractors. LOL.

That’s why the “clap for carers” crap infuriates me.
This isn’t about decent patient care. It’s about preserving and protecting the status quo.
