SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – In a memo sent to city leaders, Governor Gavin Newsom stated that tomorrow he is announcing closure of all beaches and all state parks in California, effective May 1st.
Newsom highlights that after seeing multiple violations of the stay-at-home order is the reason for this closure. “Those images are an example of what not to see, people, what not to do if we’re going to make the meaningful progress that we’ve made in the last few weeks extend into the next number of weeks,” Newsom said, during a news conference Monday.
“I cannot impress upon you more, to those Californians watching, that we can’t see the images like we saw, particularly on Saturday in Newport Beach and elsewhere, in the state of California,” Newsom said.

When people got fed up enough and hot enough to hit the beaches last weekend, it's like Newsom threw a party but told everyone to not have any fun. Now he's pissed that they were having fun. We can't allow any pictures of the frivolity.
Staying indoors will not make this virus go away. It is here to stay. All these Left governors are doing by mandating everybody stay in their homes is squeezing the population so they can control them better.
Apparently he doesn't know that heat, like the hot weather that drove people out of their homes to the beaches and the hot sand on the beaches, probably did more to stem the virus than throwing a temper tantrum and telling the population to get back in their houses or else.
Or else WHAT Newsom? What are you going to do to enforce your tyrannical dictate? Next you'll want to soot people to save themselves from themselves.

This is a serious misstep by Newsom. It is not enforceable when thousands head for the beach. He has set himself against the People for no good reason.

Our immune system is greatly weakened due to staying indoors allowing us to become more susceptible to other disease and the the 2nd round of Covid.

We haven't taken the lockdown/quarantine, stay in your homes orders seriously since this started. Especially when it's some government politician and bureaucrats telling us to do it.
We live in a free and open society where we have rights, The governors can't take those away because they want to practice their dictator skills.
I see the citizens of South Dakota are showing a parade for their governor for not falling into lockstep with the rest of the nation and closing her state down. Good for her and good for them.
Hell with the beaches, how about the churches? He’ll open the school and has opened grocery stores and other “essential” places where people gather out of necessity. Churches are a necessity in spiritual renewal and growth as much as beaches are necessary for exercise, relaxation and some still gather food from the sea. Lotta fishermen out of work.

Don’t a lot of viruses get killed outside from the UV Radiation from the Sun? I would be willing to believe that people being inside so much is what makes you essentially trapped inside with the disease. Even ancient and medieval armies threw human corpses and animal carcasses over the walls into the enemy castles or walled city to trap their enemies with disease.
Even though the beaches were "closed", police have not been patrolling them and have been letting people walk etc. all along.
