A California deputy is under investigation, and has been reassigned outside the police department, after a disturbing viral video showed him punching and choking a teenage boy during an arrest, authorities said.
The Rancho Cordova Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriffs Office announced an investigation into the use of force by our deputy after a video of the April 27 incident posted on Twitter on Tuesday received more than two million views and was shared by former Democratic presidential candidates Julian Castro and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA).

The footage was originally posted by Tufunos older sister, who told NBC News the teenager was detained for holding a cigar.
They must have some serious smoking bans in that town.
If the DailyBeast and filthy ignorant slut toes up Harris is pushing this, it is fake news. I see the teen resisting in the video and a 15 second clip doesnt tell the whole story.
You also seem to love these left wing propaganda sites.
Video has changed everything for cops. Wouldn’t want to be one nowadays. Sometimes it helps the cops, but often it can be a career changer or worse.
They will blame racism when it is democrat ATF nonsense getting people killed.
lol
I thought for sure it was because the teen was wearing his mask upside down!
Wow, I could see punching him for violating somebody’s “Social Space,” but for a Cigar?? Seems overboard to me.
Military and Law enforcement are fitting occupations for young men at the peak of their reflex speed and ability to heal. They are not a great match for people staying until retirement.
I was taught this and why it was by my grandfather, and recruit training stressed that the military wasn’t there to give me a retirement.
Not that most of the law enforcement in this country will collect their retirements, as the ponzi scheme is reaching its end.
Poor widdle kid
This is my 14-year-old nephew Elijah being restrained by this Rancho Cordova cop who felt the need to manhandle him, his uncle, Justin Tufuno, wrote on Facebook, noting the teenager has a chronic heart condition that prevents him from doing strenuous activity.
A chronic heart condition....busted while smoking a cigar....and resisting arrest.
Yeah call BS on that one. Dont want to get punched, cooperate....then punch Kamila in the face!
ESAD, kamala. The perp was not doing as he was told. He was resisting. I only saw two light punches, neither to the face. Probably the most painful thing for the perp was when the cop yanked on his wrist and the dummy’s face hit the curb. It looked unintentional. The dummies on the left always exaggerate these things waaaaay out of the reality of what actually happened, and this incident is no different.
I watched the video and nothing in it looks bad to me. There was NOTHING disproportionate by the officer when dealing with the punk resisting arrest. The perp kept fighting the officer and saying “Let me go.” The officer gave him a small love tap to quiet him down. Much ado about nothing...unless you’re a police-hating POC who won’t follow any rule issued by any person of authority.
The new Chief of Police gave a maudlin apology from her office today. That didn’t look very good.
It’s called a blunt a hollowed out cigar with pot inside.
I seem to recall hearing that “blunt” term in either Ferguson, Missouri or maybe it was Sanford, Florida.
Cops aren't military. Big difference. From my experience, I'll take a senior seasoned cop any day over some young guy with a heavy badge thinking he's going to be the ultimate crime fighter.
The cop choked the child.
You don’t choke a person.
This video will cause more Dallas/Baton Rouge and the police in America better handle it; a lot of people are losing patience with them
